The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle made a growling noise. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The following day, the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the transmission failed and needed replacement. The contact stated that this was the fifth transmission replacement for the vehicle. The first two repairs were completed at jim glover Chevrolet (707 w 51st street, tulsa, ok 74107). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 328,665.

In less than a year that I have owned it the welds on the radiator cracked open the welds cracked open on the ac condenser the transmission had to be rebuilt from something exploding inside and sharding metal everywhere and I have also had my vacuum pump go out which has shot metal into my engine and almost caused a crash when it first started going out I didn't realize what it was and almost crashed a few times on the way home.

I started my truck and while in a parked position the dashboard displays a message regarding power-steering has been reduced, please drive with caution. I googled it and notice that my particular model has a known issue and re-called. I called Chevrolet customer service and they said since my VIN # has no open recalls, they couldn't assist and that I have the option to take it to a service shop and pay out of pocket to fix. It is frustrating that with all the information online I couldn't get any help on this matter.

I bought my 2014 Silverado new. After 10,000 miles I could hear something in the drivetrain between 2nd and 3 rd gear make a moaning sound. Brought it to the dealership and couldn't find anything. This went on until 141,000 miles and the transmission came out. Had it rebuilt for $ $3,700 and was told the torque converter caused the problem. Now I'm at 181,000 and we are hoping it's the tcm inside the transmission but if not who knows what this will cost. I think GM should be responsible for defective torque converters as I have read more customers have had the same problem. It would be nice to see some kind of reimbursement. I love my truck and have owned nothing but GM vehicles but this should not happen twice.

Vehicle looses power when turning, radio screen flashes on/off, stabilitrak error displays on screen, total loss of power to vehicle while on the road while driving while in motion. This specific VIN# was involved in a recall for the exact issue last year and was repaired but is still functioning as per manufacturer agreement. This vehicle is unsafe to be on the road as is. Took it back to autonation gulf fwy to get a diagnostic they claimed it was the neg batt terminal, I got that fixed still having the same issue. GM nor Chevy want to help with this issue. I guess they are waiting for someone to die before they take this issue seriously. I don't see paying for all the repairs out of pocket if I just bought this vehicle Aug 28, 2018 and was never informed that it had been involved in a recall.

While driving vehicle while turn itself off with no explanation. This has happened multiple times in the last few months. It has increased since I got the last recall done. This is extremely dangerous as it has shut off while I was turning across lanes and died in the middle of the intersection. The truck shuts completely off and has to be restated by turning the key.

Was pulling out of my driveway when the transmission slipped and car had to slam on its brakes so it wouldn't hit me. Then it was sluggish and slipping on my 30 minute drive to work on interstate 81. On the way home it started to get worse and making an awful humming sound out of the transmission. I've researched this problem and everyone is having the same problem with GMC and Chevy 1500 trucks from 2014 to 2017. I check the fluids every week and there are always good. It just seems there should be a recall if everyone is having the same problem. Thank you.

2014 Chevrolet Silverado ltz crew cab transmission fluid was serviced in 2015 at 48,900 miles. Still experienced hard down shift and told by the dealer this is because its a truck. At 100,763 miles the transmission begins cavitating, loss of power while traveling and with loud intermitting sounds of metal on metal. Got the truck in for local transmission service and the service manager said the transmission fluid was burnt and littered with heavy metal fragments from the transmission gears. Other local (friends) of 2014 truck owners have reported this condition which all resulted in a transmission rebuild which is $4,000 for this vehicle. The strange problem is they are failing at 100K miles and the dealer has been sent service advisories to not warranty any powertrains after 100K miles even if the date is still effective. This truck was in motion when the cavitation began and shortly after (100 miles or so) began metal on metal sounds and loud clacking form the transmission area under the truck. If you need any further information to look into this don't hesitate to contact me at your convenience. Just a quick background, I am a long time Chevrolet owner and have a 1998 K 1500 and have replaced the engine and replaced two transmissions so I know it doesn't last forever but I would hope Chevrolet wants to know this is happening in their premium line up of trucks. I would only hope the power train would last longer than 100K miles. Thank you for your time!

My 2014 Chevrolet Silverado has the Chevy shakes at highway speeds. The truck begins vibrating at 70-80 miles per hour. Begins to reduce the shaking between 80-83 and then shakes even worse at 85+mph. The shaking is so bad it causes water to shake out of a cup in the cup holder. Not only does the steering wheel vibrate, but the entire center console, and the front seats. The vibration didn't begin until I hit 60,000 miles and seems to worsen with the higher mileage. I now fear for my safety, because I skidded the in the rain due the vibration at highway speeds. I only have videos showing the vibration. Total bummer. I had my tires checked and balanced (which have been on the truck for 1 year +, prior to the vibration starting) my truck has lifetime alignment on it, and this is not the issue either.

Silverado 1500

  • 80,500 miles
Incident occurred on May 27th, 2018. At 65 mph (interstate) going on a downhill grade of approximately 6%, towing an approximate 2500 lb trailer with wet roads to slow the truck down applied brakes lightly, the transmission upshifted (higher RPM), applied brakes again, upshifted again, did a third time, upshifted again (now at 4000 RPM). Had to tap the gas to get the truck to downshift. Transmission was set in drive, not manual mode. This is a repeatable condition; it does not matter if trailer mode on the transmission is selected or not. Less downgrades (approximately 3% or less) do not seem to cause the issue. Transmission programming seems to have an error. This is highly undesirable and could lead easily to an accident.

Transmission issues: Surges forward and shifting too soon loud clunks when it shifts up and down lower gears vibration when coasting to a stop difficulty/hesitation on shifting properly on acceleration loud clunking at downshift from 3rd to 2nd gear and vise versa and also a clunk shift when the vehicle approaches a complete stop. The downshift is so hard that it is a safety concern. There is tons of complaints on the internet claiming that a plate on the 2nd gear has to much of a gap. It's a manufacture defect, GM service bulletin: #pip5175B and refers to mexican sourced transmissions that were built with the stator support bolts not being properly torqued, leading to various concerns, the first of which to show up is usually the 1-2 shift flare/slip. The kick is hard enough when it shifts that you feel like your getting rear ended from 3rd to 2nd. Also you think your transmission will drop out it goes into gear so hard.

  • 43,000 miles
Truck seems to have an issue when shifting gears. The truck jerks hard when it shifts ramdonly at lower speeds (5 to 25 mph) and can sometimes startled you because it makes you think that you been rear ended by another vehicle. When coming to S stop the truck has a hard time deciding which gear to be on and after you are at a complete stop just about 3 seconds later you feel a strong hit coming from the back of the truck moving the truck forward about a foot if your not pressing on the break really hard, this also happens but with more intensity after the truck has been moved in reverse and it put in drive it takes a few seconds to engage and you feel a strong jerk forward without giving it gas. Last but not least the truck shakes more than normal while in idle almost to the point where it feels like its going to shut off.

In addition, the stabilitrak warning indicator illuminated. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to jim browne Chevrolet (located 11300 N Florida ave, tampa, fl 33612) where the transfer case shift control module and the instrument panel cluster were reprogrammed; however, the failure recurred. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 17V414000 (steering). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that a remedy part was not available for the repair. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.
