I have always garaged and maintained my vehicles. When I park my car while out, I always utilize a windshield visor to protect my dash as well as keep the temperature down in the vehicle. When I started noticing my dash was cracking I was shocked. In my 40 plus years of owning a vehicle I have never had a dash crack. The crack has continued to spread over the controls in front of the steering wheel at this point. I got an estimate on replacing it and was quoted $1600 parts and labor. Seriously?? I am furious at this point and I am looking for another vehicle, not a Chevy. I've had many things go wrong with this model which include the motorized side windows, the glass popping open on the hatch, all the paint chipping off on the air control buttons, hinges breaking off of the storage compartments on the console, the motorized button that is supposed to lift the backseat don't work properly and the list goes on and on. Such an expensive disappointment.
Dashboard cracked in two places. One above instrument cluster, one by passenger airbag. Dashboard rattles due to crack. Airbag function may be adversely affected. There was no incident that lead to the cracks, other than outdoor temperature fluctuations.
The dash has a crack at the top left corner where the airbag is located. I'm concerned about injury if the airbag is deployed or that it might not deploy properly in a crash.
The dash has been cracked for years on a six year old vehicle. GM refuses to make it right. This is documented to be a design flaw on many GM trucks and SUVS for several years and GM is too cheap to fix them.
The dash has cracked in 3 different direction on the passenger side at the upper right hand corner of the air bag. The Chevrolet dealership where the vehicle was purchased has stated that GM will not repair or replace it. The crack started as one and has since run in different directions.
My dash is cracked on the passenger side between the airbag deploy location and the front window vents. This are is approximately 1 1/2 inches and obviously not well made as there are many others with the same issue. Only other problem is the steering wheel whines when I turn it. Other than that I really like my vehicle, just which Chevy would stand behind its product more, especially when it is a real defect like the dash.
Dashboard cracked in several areas near corners and radius. Concerned if air bags deploy, sharp edges will severely cut passengers. This happened just 2 years after new purchase. Makes car look very cheap.
Dashboard cracked. If airbag deployed the shrapnel from dashboard would injure driver and passenger. Noticed it when it rattled while driving down the road.
Dashboard is cracked from front to back right in front of the driver position as well as around the airbag right in front of the passenger position. This is a well known defect. Happens no matter what I am doing. Windows have reflective tint on them and a visor is used to try and keep heat down inside the vehicle. The dash cracked anyway.
Heard the dash start to make a noise, looked at it and there was a small hairline crack. Came back to the car about 4 hours later and there were two cracks about the odometer. This car is garaged every evening and is well kept on the inside. I have been a loyal customer to GM but after this I doubt I will ever buy GM again.
Several cracks have appeared in the dash of my 2010 Suburban. One is on the left corner of the passenger airbag compartment. The other is above the instrument panel on the drivers side. After the crack occurred above the instrument panel, the sensors began to malfunction. The cracks appeared over time. We bought the vehicle used in 2012 and there were no defects in the dash. The vehicle has not been in any accidents nor has her been any force applied to the dash that would have caused the cracks. We discovered the cracks about a year ago and have been trying to work with GM to resolve the issue as it appears that this is occurring in thousands of other GM vehicles from 2007-2013. We are members of a facebook group with almost 4000 members all sharing the same photos, stories and issues with their GM vehicles. This complaint is filed due to the fact that the cracks are getting worse and my fear is that the passenger airbag could be dangerous if deployed. Not to mention the malfunctioning sensors under the instrument panel where the other crack is located.
Like many other Chevy/GMC light truck and truck owners, my dash has cracked. I worry that the cracked sharp dash could interfere with the airbags ability to deploy safely.
Major cracks in dash board on both the driver and passenger side. Passenger side airbag has cracks right next to it. If airbag goes off parts of dashboard will go flying and could injure someone in the car.
I noticed my dash was cracked while cleaning my windows. It is crack at both airbags both passenger & driver. It rattles while driving down the highway. It is very disappointing that I have a car in such pristine condition with low-mileage & the dash board looks like something in a 35 year old vehicle. I have been told by the dealer & GM it is the dash pad & is around $1800-$1900 to replace. Not only is it a visual & noise nuisance I feel it could be extremely dangerous if I were in & accident & the dash would splinter into hundreds of pieces that could kill or cause serious injuries even blindness.
