I think after 2016 when tekata declared the air bag to be unsafe they have had more than ample time to manufacture new ones.General Motors needs to buy back the vehicles affected and all cost of maintenance of them and the and the purchase price of vehicle if they cant comply to the recall. After all the taxpayers money saved them from going under and now the goverment is allowing them to not conform to a safety recall that kills people.

My car was purchased new in December 2006. In July 2016, I received a safety recall notification from GM regarding the takata airbag, recall 49151. I have been checking in quarterly with my local dealer, now cavender Chevrolet, boerne, tx and receive the same answer that the replacement part is not available. Most recently, the dealer representative indicated that the vehicle may not ever be fixed. The car currently has 96,494 miles and I am still in fear for my wife and passengers that has to sit on that side of the vehicle. What are my liabilities if an injury or death occurs due to this problem? I can't even sell or trade the vehicle due to this recall notice and have postponed many long trips due to this issue. The vehicle works well otherwise with no other issues. Some help is definitely needed to remedy this situation!! I can forward a copy of GM's recall notification if needed. Thanks you in advance.

My vehicle has had an airbag recall for 2 years. Chevrolet refuses to acknowledge their is an issue. They keep saying the airbag is safe. Yet my vehicle remains on a list for recall. At what point are they going to be required to honor the recall? other car makers have acknowledged an issue and fixed the recall. When you ask the Chevrolet spokesperson if they would put a loved one in the seat with the airbag recall they simply state the vehicle is safe to drive. They refuse to answer the question. How can a national recall be issued but a company such as GM not be held accountable to fix the issue and let this linger for years.
I am needing to have my airbag corrected.... it is part of the takata recall. It has been open for a while and the website indicates there is not a correction. I have children and this needs to be fixed now!!!!!

The air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained head, back, neck, hand, and knee injuries. Medical attention was received. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent lot. I reached out to the site and was told they believe it is safe from internal conversations I was not allowed to view. Then when I requested a fix as the recall information on the site says results could be fatal injuries I was informed GM believes it will be fine for years.
I dont understand why GM will not fix the issue with cracks in the dash! it is U safe as one is located right at the passenger side airbag. What it I have an accident and this breaks and parts fly and hu6A passenger. This is not safe.
