Dipstick broke at handle when checking oil level , the rest stuck and don't know how to get it out

While I was changing my oil I attempted to measure how full the engine was after I added the replacement oil. The oil dipstick had a hairline fracture in the plastic. When I pulled on the dipstick the handle broke off in my hand. The rest of the dipstick is now stuck in place. I do not know how to retrieve it in order to replace it.
