CarComplaints.com Notes: Chrysler has taken the boring small car frame of the Neon, grafted a 1930s-era roadster body on top and named it the PT Cruiser. While the new look may appeal to some, the vehicle has unfortunately also inherited many of the same problems as the Neon.

Three sets of tires and now getting different rims after Mr. finally tells me its the rims;guy says they have seen alot of problems with P.T. cruisers. I waited for this car for 9 months and it was my baby;it was like waiting on a new born to come. Wish I would have taken the pill. If you have to wait that long for a car there is a problem I should have said screw Chrysler. Chrysler pushed to get these cars out and now we are paying the price for the fast production.

chrysler sucks for wheels and adding more air is not the fix - it just leaks faster

PT Cruiser Limited 4 cyl

I bought my 2001 PT Cruiser in November of 2000. Since that time I have bought at least 8 tires for my car! I have brought car in so many times (I've lost count) to have tires/valves checked. Have to put air in tires every day or every other day!!! I'm always told tires are ok, it's the rims causing leakage (magnesium alloy, sticker price 375/ea). Thanks to these rims, tires end up destroyed or flat. As of today (8/17/09) I have a spare on my car because, once again, tire went flat but this time I was on X-Way. Rim and tire are now destroyed and after calling a dealership (dealership where I bought car is closed/gone!) I was told one rim would cost $600.....WTF I cannot afford to keep buying tires and now need rims too....CHRYSLER IS NO HELP!!!! Got to go now....need to find/buy rim and tire today!!! I'm so angry..................

3 out of 4 tires constantly leaking air. Changed tires 3 times, all-seasons, winters, all-seasons again. Really annoying. Found a gas station finally that doesn't charge me for air.

Tire must be refilled more frequently. Winter is scarier because it leaks quicker.

PT Cruiser LX

  • 34,000 miles

Wheel started to loose air second year of ownership. Dealer bandaided the problem till vehicle was out of warranty. Now refuses to accept responsibility. Only suggested solution, tire and wheel replacement for $ 780.00. Have tried "customer care". Had the vehicle to two dealerships and three tire places. Now goes flat every other day
