Dealer said computer memory failed for some reason, never heard of it happening before. Mechanic said must have happened before because there was a service bulletin telling how to fix it. Maybe a voltage surge. When I asked what would cause a voltage surge - he did not know. When I asked if it will happen again, he said he did not know.
Another thing about the car is it already showing underbody rust and wheel hub rust after only 40000 miles. This is a concern as we live in Ohio where the roads are salted frequently. My 1993 Cavalier with 198,000 miles on it is still sound. I do not expect the PT to make it that long, but what the hell I'm 73.
Otherwise we have had no other mechanical problems with it. My wife still likes it. I think the car is OK but the dealer sucks.
I was leary about buying a Chrysler product because of previous bad experiences with a Chrysler products and the same dealership 10 and 15 years earlier , but wife wanted the car because it was cute and she liked the color.
