Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Avenger equipped with bridge stone turanza EL41 tires, size: 215/16.5R17. The contact was adding air to the tires and noticed that the plastic valve cover was missing, causing air to seep from the tires. The tires were taken to a local tire shop where the contact was advised that the air presser senor failed. The tires were not replaced and the air pressure sensor was not repaired. I have been very very disappointed with my 2008 Avenger.. seems like I've experienced one problem after the other.. the first was the TPMS, which a recall was made and that was fixed. 2nd I had to replace the whole gear shift because it wouldn't come out of park... I called the dealership and they advised me that they saw a significant increase on those parts and alot of the Avengers were experiencing the same thing. 3rd, now the bearings inside the alternator have broke.. and I have to replace the whole alternator itself. We again called the Dodge house and they also explained how many request they are getting ref this part and having to keep them in stock continuously. Everyone I know that has an Avenger have all experienced all of these same problems.. and my question is at what point does Dodge start issuing a recall?? if Dodge can call the dealerships and get a tally on all amount of replacement parts they would be surprised and realize that a recall does need to be in effect.

I have taken my 2008 Dodge Avenger to 2 different dealerships on 3 occasions for stalling problems. I have the invoices. They continue to say they cannot verify the complaint. The vehicle stalls while idling and tonight when I pulled out it almost stalled. I researched it online and there are other complaints of the same problem. There are reports of a recall from 2008 for the tire pressure monitoring system as well as the exhaust gas recirculation. I am afraid to drive my vehicle with my girls in the car.

I purchased a 2008 Dodge Avenger last April, brand new. I have taken care of the vehicle, the lighting on the dash is always coming on, so I am constantly taking it to the shop and they run the diagnostics and they tell me nothing is ever wrong. I had to take the it in for a warranty problem on top of all of that. Then this last time I thought it was making a funny noise with the brakes. I took it in and they said I have a leak in my transmission and oil tank, of course the only thing on the dash lighting this time says "tire problem". it is such an unsafe vehicle, I ran out of gas in the middle of making a turn in an intersection and my gas light wasn't on and the gage showed I had quarter of a tank. The car has caused me nothing but problems. Then to top it off, I got in my car to go home from work and it wouldn't move out of gear and I had to call a tow truck. I have only had the car a year, if I wanted problems with a car I wouldn't have bought it brand new.

One days after driving from salt lake city airport to park city, Utah, the Dodge Avenger's tire pressure warning light came on. Fearing that the tire(s) were low, I stopped at a gas station and filled two tires. As soon as I put the pump on the third tire, the valve cracked off and all the air came out of the tire. I replaced the tire with the utility spare. I took the car to a tire shop, and the gentleman at the tire shop told me the valves on these cars break easily. The tire shop had to replace the valve by ordering one from the Dodge dealer, and the part did not arrive for two days. The approximate cost for replacing the valve was $90. For the two days during the repair, the car could not be taken on the expressway. I kept the broken part of the valve.

The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Avenger. The vehicle was repaired according to NHTSA campaign id number 08V152000 (electrical system:wiring); however, the contact is currently experiencing the failures associated with the recall. While driving at any speed, the tire pressure light remains illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle has been diagnosed by the dealer several times, but the failure still exists. The current mileage was 22,800 and failure mileage was 21,400.

A few days after I purchased the vehicle I began hearing a tapping noise in the engine sounds like knocking (bad gas or rod). Dealer claims to not hear anything. Took to another dealer which heard the noise, kept the car to inspect and repair stating they thought they knew what the problem was. Car wasn't fixed I complained because the second dealer admitted to speaking with the first dealer thus the car wasn't fixed. They lied to me and told me it was a federally regulated emissions system that made the car sound that way. Dealer #1 offered to set up an appointment with a Chrysler rep. Then he called back and stated that the rep wouldn't be local for 4-6 weeks. The rep called me and basically stated that it sounded like I just didn't like the car. The dealer would not take the car back, and were rude about repairs. I never saw the rep. Now the car is making a rubbing noise in the steering column and the power steering pump sounds like it is going out. I have done everything to try to replace the car but the dealers have put me off so long without repairs that I am stuck with the car. Less than 6 months after I owned the car I began seeing commercials for the car only the price was more than $5,000 less than what I was charged. Therefore, the bank wants an enormous amount of money in order to put me in another vehicle. The ignition rolls over several times before starting. Sometimes I have to attempt starting the vehicle three times. The cd player does not work, it over heats and will burn your hand if you touch the digital display. I have had friends in the community to call me and tell me that my car sounded awful when they saw me in town. Additionally I am paying 430 a month for the payment when the girl across the road is having the same problems with her new Avenger yet she only pays 279 a month at 11% interest. With all of the problems and the miserable ride this car offers, I can easily compare it to a bicycle " a used bicycle" at best.
