CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2007 Dodge Caliber has all kinds of suspension problems at relatively low mileage: typically 40-50,000 miles.

The most commonly reported problems are with ball joints & control arms going bad. Tie rods & leaking struts are also reported failing in the same mileage range.

Unfortunately all the suspension problems means some owners only find out after they notice their tires are ruined.

We've given the 2007 Caliber our worst rating because these problems happen at such low mileage, & it involves a wide range of apparently defective parts. With most other cars, major suspension work is pretty rare under 50,000 miles.

About 6 months ago, our 2007 Dodge Caliber R/T's drivers side low beam headlight went out and I began to troubleshoot the problem. Changing the bulb didn't make a difference. After chasing wires with no power, led me back to the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM)! When I started to research the TIPM problem online, I began to learn that this is an issue that runs deep in this model and is very expensive. I went to my local mechanic and found out that he just repaired another Caliber in March, which ended up in the range of $950 repair.

Since this problem has occurred, I have noticed several Dodge models, especially trucks that have the same disturbing problem that we have. The scary issue is, that others have had the same issue with the passenger side low beam headlight, which if this car does the same thing to the other light, thank God we have road lamps with the R/T package. I am curious though, shortly after we purchased this car used, our dash lights went out and have not been able to find the culprit for this issue also. HMM, could these be connected?

I cant believe 1.000 dollars to fix a burnt out low beam bulb. Dodge should recall all cars with a tipm box. i was pulled over by the police for only one headlight. the officer said yes indeed this is a safety hazard with the tipm box. Dodge should fix the problem ,and if that ain't enough, I went to change the rear brakes and the minute I took off the rear hub on the passenger side, every part just shot out at me. Damn Dodge! We're better than that, man. So if we don't take care of our people as Americans, who the hell will.

One mad hombre

I am reading TIPM and am finding that it is a common issue and an expensive one to fix when it causes problems. My gripe? This is not a routine repair problem with a vehicle such as replacing tires, light bulbs ( which is all I need to need to do is get my one low beam to work and have tried two new bulbs (with KOST tire repair maintenance). They said it was with the electrical and I had to see the dealership. I have an appt. Tuesday May 27, 2014.

I understand if this module has to replaced it may cost anywhere from $700 to 1200. Not happy. This car is only a 2007 with now 63,500 miles on it. I bought it in 2011 as a replacement vehicle with 34,000 miles after someone else hit and totaled my 2008 Nissan Rogue. No, not happy at all.
