CarComplaints.com Notes: The first year of the new Dodge Dart had a rough start, with owners reporting a disproportionate number of engine and transmission problems.

For transmission, the main complaints are transmission failure & rough shifting. So far, average mileage for transmission failure is 25,000 miles. Not good.

For engine problems, it usually starts with the engine light coming on for any number of reasons: bad sensors, ignition coil replacement, bad wiring, faulty gas cap ... dealers are replacing various components with varying degrees of success, or telling owners they can't duplicate the issue.

Dart Limited

  • CVT transmission

This is the WORST car I have EVER owned!! Since buying it 2 years ago with only 17,000 miles on it. I have had the radio changed out 3 times because it just blacks out for no reason then comes back on a few minutes later (it is STILL doing this) I have had the sunroof recalibrated 3 times because it will stop closing (which it is doing YET again now) I've had Transmission control module replaced, battery, spark plugs and new tires cause they were shredding at 40,000 miles!

And now the is going crazy.. the doors lock and unlock when i'm driving, anytime I start walking towards my car with the key fob the doors start locking unlocking AND the auto start kicks in but shuts right back off. and NO i am not pressing any buttons!!

PLUS when I'm in a drive thru or anywhere I have to leave my foot on the break once I take my foot off the car accelerates WITHOUT me pushing the gas. I have almost rearended people!! sometimes it gives me the message 'autoshift not available' usually if I turn the car off and back on it will go away.

2 dealers told me there is nothing they can do because the system is reporting no errors!! How much crap has to go wrong before this thing is considered a LEMON??? is there a time limitation??
