CarComplaints.com Notes: The first year of the new Dodge Dart had a rough start, with owners reporting a disproportionate number of engine and transmission problems.

For transmission, the main complaints are transmission failure & rough shifting. So far, average mileage for transmission failure is 25,000 miles. Not good.

For engine problems, it usually starts with the engine light coming on for any number of reasons: bad sensors, ignition coil replacement, bad wiring, faulty gas cap ... dealers are replacing various components with varying degrees of success, or telling owners they can't duplicate the issue.

The passenger side visor just broke. It had hardly ever been used because I rarely had passengers. My daughter was in the car, pulled it down and SNAP!

The thing is, I have never seen heard of or experienced a broken visor in any car I have ever owned. Even cars in scrapyards do not have broken visors. Dodge needs to issue a recall for free. Imagine going down the highway and you visor breaks in front of you while driving. There is a risk of an accident for sure.

sun visor broken

Both visors have broken in the same spot, in the same way at this point. I could pay a $100 deductible, or I could buy a replacement visor myself for $100 or less, so either way it is a costly defective component that Chrysler needs to improve right away.

You can clearly see in the photo that there is metal inside the visor hinge, but it breaks where the metal stops and the plastic continues...the plastic is not strong enough to hold the visor by itself. It is a VERY bad design with OBVIOUS defects that anyone could see why it would break right there. The plastic is just too brittle to hold the weight if you use your visor at all in a normal way.

I bought my Dodge Dart used in August of 2016. Like an idiot, I purchased a $4,000+ extended warranty. I was told what a great decision I had made. Bumper to bumper for the life of the car, as long as I own it. Covers EVERYTHING but normal wear and tear (tires, oil changes, clutch, etc.). Took the car on vacation the day I bought it. While on vacation, my daughter went to put down the sun visor on the passenger side. BROKEN!!!! REALLY!!! The dealership could do a 1,000,000 point check and this escaped their keen eyes! WOW!!! It managed to stay put when put back up into the casing, but was not usable. Unfortunately, time got away from me and I did not get back to the dealership to complain when we returned from vacation. Fast forward to Christmas......my mom went to look at the visor and it fell down, but this time the wires come down with it so it is just HANGING there. I am thinking...no problem....I have a bumper to bumper warranty, and this is most certainly NOT normal wear and tear. You guessed it.....NOT COVERED!!!! WHAT? I can get the same visor much cheaper on ebay, so that is what we will do. But, what about the warranty? What else will not be covered? Dodge, do what you say you are going to do. Keep your promises to the people who choose to purchase your product. Are you so hard up for money that you won't stand behind your product? Take your money and run? Should I be just afraid....or VERY afraid.........

Passenger visor fell down after two people tried using it. Wire broke off and now my interior lights aren't working. It's turned into a bigger problem now that my car is falling apart from the inside out. I am the only owner of this car and it has been nothing but problems. Dealership will fix it under the extended warranty with a $100 deductible, but I can buy a new one for $65.00.

Passenger sun visor is broken. The plastic tube that held the visor in place is flimsy. You would think that with over 50 years of building cars, Chrysler could get this part right.

My passenger visor just fell off one day. This really made me mad because nobody sits in that seat or ever used the visor. I called the Dodge dealership and they said it was not under warranty. I took it to my regular car repair person and he told me he had to order the part from Dodge because when he called the dealership they said they use to have the part in stock, but ran out. He suggested this may indicate a larger problem in that many others are probably having the same problem. Dodge needs to reimburse all of us for this part.

If you want a loyal Dodge owner................then treat us right. I have never heard of any other car's visor just falling off. Come on Man!

It seems that the brilliant minds at Fiat/Chrysler decided to use a flimsy piece of aluminum to hold up their visors. I work in the Aluminum Extrusion industry and if they had used a part with any kind of quality control this would never have happened. Aluminum is quite solid and should have held up to the usage it would get in this area for at least 10 years, mine didn't even last 2 years.

The passenger visor is the worst design ever. It is made in a poor quality plastic and was broken under a normal operation load. The inner steel structure doesn't have the right length where attached, causing high stress concentration during a normal user's operation.

My husband bought me a 2013 Dodge Dart SXT for our anniversary in April 2014. I had it less than two months when the passenger visor broke and was hanging by the wire. I know it was a used car but come on, it was only a year old. This is utterly ridiculous. I was so proud to have that new of a car (my first and I am 52) and then that happened. I almost cried. I refused to even look at other vehicles. This is what I wanted. Makes me so angry. Why do they not take more pride in what they build?

My passenger sun visor is broken and all I did was open it like normal. No excessive force and it wasn't freezing cold outside. It broke where the bracket meets the ceiling of the car...dangling by a few wires.

One day I was driving and the visor on my passenger side fell from the roof, only hanging on by the electoral cord. I push it back in and now from time to time it still falls out. I was at the dodge shop for an unrelated problem and I was talking to another dart owner. He said he has the same problem.
