CarComplaints.com Notes: The first year of the new Dodge Dart had a rough start, with owners reporting a disproportionate number of engine and transmission problems.

For transmission, the main complaints are transmission failure & rough shifting. So far, average mileage for transmission failure is 25,000 miles. Not good.

For engine problems, it usually starts with the engine light coming on for any number of reasons: bad sensors, ignition coil replacement, bad wiring, faulty gas cap ... dealers are replacing various components with varying degrees of success, or telling owners they can't duplicate the issue.

Since financing this vehicle back in 2013, I've had to replace the front right & left control arms, shocks, front suspension and numerous fuses. It's been on the recall list twice, the first time they supposedly fixed the problem which was the brakes, but those still gave out on me and I had to have my personal mechanic replace the front and back brakes, brake pads and everything. Now it's back on the recall list for some defective bushings.

This car was valued at $19,000 brand new, and I was tricked into the highest interest rates and duration, so since 2013 I've already paid them $29,000 and they say I still owe $13,000, meaning they're charging me $42,000 for a car that was originally valued at only $19,000 and now because it's back on the recall list. No one wants to insure it because they're claiming it falls under the manufacturer buyback lemon law, but Chrysler refuses to buy it back, and the bank doesn't care - all they want is that other $13,000 regardless if I can use the vehicle or not.

I've had to park it since June 13th, 2019 because they terminated my policy so I'm now stuck paying for a car that I can't even drive, and even though I've already paid them what the car was originally valued at, they are being greedy and not even willing to compromise with me and put me in a safer vehicle without defects, instead of trying to stick me paying for a car that's of no use to me...

I've paid them $29,000 plus the several thousand I've had to pay for repairs since 2013 and don't feel that its right for a company to blatantly take advantage of a loyal paying customer like this.
