Problem started with driver's side not unlocking but motor tries to open the door. Now the passenger side is doing the same thing. I called Dodge and found out it could cost anywhere from $120 to $250 for each door to be fixed. Seems like the problem is soooo common that Dodge would come up with a less expensive service charge. Dodge step up and fix this problem. It's a big deal when most people buy these vans as family cars and most have young kids/infants to put into the van! Frustrating for sure!!!!

I have never owned a Dodge before this one and I WILL NEVER buy another one! It all started about a month after we bought the van and realized the passenger side sliding door could only be locked/unlocked manually. Well, guess what.....today the driver's side decided to stop working too! This really sucks when you have 3 small kids and this is the reason you bought the van to begin with! I am so mad right now that there hasn't been a recall because I am not the only one with this problem! DODGE SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The passenger side sliding door automatic lock quick working about a year ago. I now have to manually lock and unlock it. When it first started acting up, it seemed like it was trying to open but it just didn't have enough ooomph to get the job done.I just started doing the manual thing so I know for sure that the door is locked. It is pretty inconvenient since I use the passenger side to load and unload items so I am trying to get used to using the drivers side sliding door instead. I guess I just have to get used to using the other door. You would think since you pay enough cash out for a "nice" vehicle you shouldn't have to deal with such problems but I am not paying a bunch of $$$$ for the inconvenience. I have read on some blogs that some people have paid as much as $300+ to fix the problem. Where the hell is the quality control??

Grand Caravan 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 65,000 miles

Door locks are unreliable. The right side used to work sometimes and sometimes it did not; now it doesn't work at all. This is very stressfull, since I have a baby and when I think I have unlocked my car as I step out of my driver's seat it turns out the door is locked when I try to open the side door to take my little one out of the car. I have to make sure I have the keys on me all the time, because with the left sliding door I never know when it indeed locked or didn't lock.

It started with the right side, where the lock wouldnt not automatically lock or unlock and you had to manually press it down adn lift it up, and then about a month after that the left side went out to. it was teh censor for the latches and it cost about 900 bucks to fix. I wish there was a recall and hope that one comes out cause it is odd that both would go out like tha, it seems like the electrical on dodges stink sometimes, cause also blinker somtimes malfunctions also.

this, the fourth complaint on my list is the least of my worries but still annoying as hell. the automatic lock on the rear passenger door just stopped working on day.

instead of forking out any more money in repairs on this P.O.S. vehicle we just reach back there and make sure it's locked

Grand Caravan LX 3.3L V6

While on vacation, last September the passenger sliding door lock failed to lock automatically. The only way to lock it is to manually to push the lock down.

Due to the $100,00 deductible, I have not taken the van in to be looked at, as I have other issues and want to have all of them fixed at the same time.

First the lock on the right sliding side door stopped working a few months ago, now the other one doesn't work! I have to carry a sleeping 35 pound toddler to the van sometimes, and now I have to contort to unlock the door. You never realize how convenient the auto-unlock is until you lose it!

My van locked me out today. I got out of the van, left the keys in the ignition to put gas in and I was going to sit in the van because of the cold and wait for the gas to fill up. The door was locked! With the key in the ignition! I did not lock it myself or hit something by mistake. Luckily, my husband came right away as I was only 2 blocks from home. A similar thing had happened before, but I thought maybe I had hit something. I like to warm up my van in the morning and I usually lean over the passenger seat and start it and go back inside. When I came back out one time, I was going to put my purse in the passenger seat and it was locked. Fortunately, the driver door was open. Not sure what this is all about, but I will keep an eye on it.
