Engine stalls - powers off - while going at high speed. No warning no indicator light comes on. It has happened to me 4 times in the last year or so. From this site, I can see that others are having the same issue. This confirms my suspicion - it's a Dodge defect. This defect causes a highly dangerous situation, to stall in the fast lane while cars are zipping by - Awful. I consider my self lucky - that I have not been annihilated on the highway because of this "defect". I took my van to my local Dodge dealership, since they are the experts, and they cannot find anything wrong. They plug it into all test machines and nothing comes up. I even paid extra to have the mechanic do a visual more thorough check - nothing was found. The Van is unpredictable and I don't want to drive it. I have 3 small kids and God forbid something happen - sometimes I have a van full of kids. The last time the Van stalled, I got pretty traumatized - it was on the Mass Pike during Rush hour. Something needs to be done before someone dies. I recall that, it took a while before Toyota admitted their acceleration defect. I'm feeling the way the early Toyota victim probably felt - no one was believing them - operator error they were saying. I am hoping that publicizing this problem will help in holding Dodge accountable if a fatality occurs. If anyone knows who, or how, I can get Dodge to help identify the problem and fix it, I would greatly appreciate it. I can be reached at gloriamagale@gmail.com. Thank you.

I can't believe that I am the fifth person with this problem of the same year, make and model! And that there is no solution for it as of yet! When my car just stalled without warning today while in motion I thought for sure there must be some kind of recall in regards to it happening. That's how I found this site. I am now very discouraged to find that there are others with this highly dangerous issue and no one knows what is causing it. I drive with two young children in the car and all I can think about is what if I get hit from behind by someone when it happens with them in the car. I ditto what someone else said about a big time law suit for Dodge if there is an accident due to this happening. I am not a law suit type of person, but people's lives are at risk, especially little children. There has to be consequences for the company. Please someone help the five of us rectify this. We can't afford another car!

I was taking my child to school this morning and glanced down and noticed that my RPM gauge was at 0, then I realized that my car was no longer accelerating. My van did not sputter, spit, jolt or anything to notify me that something was wrong. I pulled over and restarted it, and it started just fine. I was able to drive back home with no problems, but I was afraid to get on busy main roads for fear that it would happen again.

I started having the same problem. It has happened twice. I'm bringing it in to a Dodge dealer in Vegas in a couple of weeks. I've been told the error code in the computer system will zero out once the car has been started three times after this problem occurs so there is nothing for the dealer to look at. I'll take it in anyway because maybe they have run into this before. It almost has to be a computer problem I believe. In my case this problem occurred right after I accelerated on the interstate to pass a car. Everything goes dead just like I turned the car off. I put the van into neutral while it is going and restart the car. Never heard of this before. It may be important to get on the record because this could be a dangerous situation depending on where and when it happens. If it results in an accident I'll file legal action. Dodge should know they have a problem and provide a new computer chip or chips if they really can't figure it out since that is the most probable cause.

problem #2

Grand Caravan 3.3L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 55,000 miles

My car initially would hesitate while going down the road (loss of power); then would clear up and be fine. About a week later, it would stall out 2 or 3 times after starting up but once the air and radio were turned off, it seemed to run fine. A few days after that, the car kept stalling and I could not keep it running. The next day, I turned the key and the engine would not turn over or anything. The starter relay was fine, the starter works if the ignition is bypassed, the battery appears fine, there are no "idiot" lights lit up, and nothing registers on a check of the onboard computers. I am having my car towed to a dealer in the hopes that they can figure out what is wrong without charging me an arm and a leg. If anyone has similar problems or has fixed this, please let me know asap!

The van just dies. I will be driving along and it dies. It doesn't sputter, or stall. There

are no engine lights, no warning. The power steering and brakes all are difficult to manage. I have taken it to the dealer, they cannot duplicate the problem. I have had a engineer from Chrysler come and they also could not duplicate the problem. Meanwhile i have a new bvan that I pay alot of money for each month tha dies with me and my three children in it.
