What kind of crap is Dodge making that a 2010 Grand Caravan would need a complete brake job front and rear with only 30,000 miles on it?

This is complete garbage. You pay thousands for a vehicle expecting to get at least three years out of it before you have to put major repairs into it but no, this pile of junk is barely one year old and all four brakes are shot. Not even thinking that a vehicle this new would have this problem I didn't discover this until the whole system was damaged including the rotors. What the hell is with this. I thought that after the domestics almost succumbed to their own made disasters a few years back that they would build better vehicles. Apparently this is not the case. This whole mess cost $1200.00 to fix. The service adviser at the Dodge dealer we took it to seemed very glib and cavalier about the whole thing stating that this happens frequently. When he said that I wanted to punch him right in the face. The stupid ass, what a thing to say and how to treat a customer after laying out thousands for this piece of sh*t.

I will NEVER NEVER buy another Dodge product or another domestic and all you assholes who work for these rip off outfits should give your heads a shake. Get a real job and work for a company that has integrity and which build quality products. I will never buy another Dodge product and will definitely go to a foreign make as they seem to know how to make better quality vehicles.

After reading the other complaints I am a bit worried even though I really like the 2010 Grand Caravan - it's my 3rd one in 8 years. An intermittent squealing rear disc brake after highway travel caused me to get the dealership to check my brakes. They reported that they were all fine and there was nothing to worry about. Yesterday, a month later, I got a strong smell of overheated brakes while driving on the highway. I called the dealership while stopped at the side of the road and they told me to get it towed to the nearest dealership for service. I ended up driving slowly because the brake seemed to release itself and no longer heated up. Another Chrysler dealership replaced both rear rotors, pads and brackets for absolutely no charge. I was delighted. After reading the other reports I am wondering why they didn't replace the calipers and also how long before all of them will need total replacement at my expense.

One night coming back from work at about midnight it smelt like burned brakes. I pulled over to side of the road and both back disks were glowing red hot ,melted hub caps, i had only about 1 km to get home so went home ,the next day called Dodge and said what had happened and they gave me an app to come in and see what was the prob , $ 650 later they told me that 2 back disks were finished and pads and need a wheel aligned ,i got a little mad and said that i was not going to pay this sh*t cause it was my first new car and never had prob, with my old cars like this ,any way they call dodge and Dodge paid for the 2 disks and i had to pay the rest ,both back caliper sliders were seized and i had to ask them to grease them when i do my oil change , i said to them what the f*ck I'm not a f@cken mechanic you guy are .. well that is my beef and now my switch is another thing at 10,000 km when i turned a corner the van shut off and almost had an accident and went in and told them what has happen and they said o that is nothing you have too much keys on your key chain i had about 5 ,6 of then what the f#ck , and about 4 months later had the recall for the ing, to get changed they changed it but now it is harder to start with the retainer ring in there ,what a f&cken van never again will I get this again .. sorry but F*CK..

On the driver side when you riding along you hear a squeaking sound. Took to dealer Tate Dodge, Glen Burnie, MD, was told that it was the brakes, I asked how can it be the brakes when you riding along and hear the squeaking, really embarrassing driving a new vehicle and its squeaking. They wanted to charge me to replace the brake pads, I told them a new vehicle with under 20,000 miles should not be squeaking. Spoke to the general manger of service and he had the brake pads replaced free of charge. The noise has reappeared again. Tate Dodge keep saying it the new kind of brake pads they are putting on new vehicles so that they last longer. I do not agree with them. I am at the point I am ready to contact the consumer protection to see what can be done. I know other people who has the 2010 Dodge Caravan and they are not having the squeaking. I think there is a defect somewhere and I am going to get to the bottom of it.

Problem developed where the rear brakes were making a high pitched squeal while driving. Eventually the noise got worse and I could feel the wheels were very hot compared to the front wheels. Also we could smell something was very hot or burning. We took the vehicle back to the dealership and was told the rear calipers were frozen. I believed the vehicle was under warranty. WRONG!! The brakes system is apparently only covered the first 12 months or 12000 miles. Dodge is well aware of this problem as the service manager told me they have had many problems with this issue. I also know of 2 other people I work with that have the same vehicle and one of them had his calipers, rotors, and pads changed for free - 3 times!!!!(every 10000 miles) The other individual has the same dealer I had and was told the issue is not covered under warranty.

Dodge is well aware of this problem and should have a recall out. This is a major safety issue. If those rear wheels lock up on the highway, there is no telling what could happen!! Why hasn't there been a recall and a fix for this safety issue??

At around 13000 miles, the brakes started randomly squealing, sometimes for the whole trip, sometimes not at all. Of course the first time we took it back to the dealer they couldn't hear anything. A week later, my wife heard it again and took one of the mechanics along for a test ride so he could hear the problem. He heard it and told my wife to bring the car back in the morning. Dropped it off at 8:00 a.m. and at about 11:30 a.m. the service department called to say the rear brakes are at fault and that the pads needed to be replaced and the rotors turned and that it would be $240. to fix. Why should I have to pay when there's only 14,000 miles on the car and it is still under factory warranty? Please tell me if other 2010 grand caravan owners have the same problem. I think brakes shouldn't have any problems at all this early in the game.

I had brake service done at 11400 KM now they're telling me there's was a build up of debris causing the pad to stick and warp the rotors at 17740 KM. I don't get it, does that mean you have to service the brakes on this vehicle every 5000 KM. I believe there is a bigger problem behind the brakes failing at this low amount of wear? I think its the calibers sticking and they don't say it's that because that would be covered by the extended warranty that I paid for!!! Now I have to pay 450.00$ to get the back rotors and pads repaired.

Update from Jul 4, 2011: My dealership found that the calibers were sticking and refunded me my 450.00$ and replaced my calibers under my extended warranty. Very pleased with the out come!!! Suggested I service the brakes once a year to catch problem before it happens.

I don't live near my dealership so I stopped by my local car shop...they told me it is a problem with the rotors and that it would need to be fixed. I waited and today I finally had time to talk to the dealership...Any problems with brake pads and rotors are only covered until 12,000 miles. Of course, I just passed the warranty period for those parts. I talk to the service managers for several dealerships and they won't help.

I'm going to have my local car guys fix the problem...they are honest and they care about their customers. At the dealership it was going to cost $340 for the rotors + 80 for the pads + labor. Sad that dodge don't care to keep their reputation and do what is right for their customers.

went to the dealership the rear abs light came it was replaced under the warranty at the same time the mechanic and the service adviser showed me one of the rear calipers and rotor said the pads were seizing and sticking in sliders due to road debris 107.69 later for rear brake service the dealership it was a design flaw . the pads are at the rear of the rotor so they collect lots of road debris the van has about 12000mls on it. called Chrysler stuck to the warranty not very helpful .WILL SPEND MY MONEY DIFFERENTLY NEXT TIME..thankyou
