Ram 1500

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

I own a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500. On this model as well as many other models the secondary hood latch was recalled for failing to work. Now my truck had been serviced but one day my hood flew open with such force it sprung both of the spring hinges, ripped the corners of my hood and bent them (now starting to rust), cracked my windshield and at one point I could not get the hood to latch shut so I now tie it down with twine. I was only doing about 25-30, just leaving a driveway. My daughter was scared (?@#^@ as was I) and when I called the Dodge company everyone was nice except the insurance rep he really took the cake. He blamed me for the accident saying it was not the secondary hood latches fault but the primary and that I did not properly maintain it. I never got the chance to ask him what the (blank) do I pay for the Dodge dealership to keep my vehicle maintained, which I never knew you had to maintain a hood latch? even so the secondary latch was the issue that never held even if the primary latch failed. I talked to my dealership and they were stunned at this, they said it was obvious the secondary hood latch failed and once recalled always recalled. I went as far as saying they did not have to do the $2500 worth of repairs (estimated by the Dodge dealership) I just wanted the latch to work so I don't have to worry about it doing it again and to fix the springs so I do not have to be a body builder to open and shut my hood and to bend back the metal and touch up the paint so it don't rust. (its an older truck but doesn't have to look like crap or be a safety issue. I am really ticked off at Dodge and wanted to alert you to my situation. How many others had this happen and got the same response? I may even go to a news station and plead my case there, that guy for Dodge really ticked my off. Thank you for listening.

Ram 1500 4WD 8-cyl

On January 28 2011, I purchased a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 from honest ziggy's. there were little things that needed to be done, but that was okay with us. Then in February of 2011 I was going down the road and my driver's door came open. Come to find out we had to spend $400 on getting the driver's door fixed. We called ziggy's to let them know and they said that we bought it "as is". I thought before they put a vehicle up for sale they have to make sure that it is safe to be on the road. We had to replace the door hinges on the driver's side because they were so old and when the door would shut it was not lining up properly. It was like that for a long time because it started to crack. We had to go to a body shop to get it fixed. They had to cut out at least quarter of the door and replace it.ziggy's said that it was our problem and that they were not going to do anything. Ziggy told us that there was nothing wrong with it and that we caused the door to be like that. And when we confronted him about it he said that he did not know that there was anything wrong with it and he said that he mechanic looked at it also and said that there was nothing wrong with it.we need to find out what rights we have to make sure that this does not happen to anyone else. We took it for a test drive and noticed that the transmission was slipping and we told ziggy about it and he said that there was nothing wrong. We would like to know what can be done about this. We just don't have the money to dish out to fix this truck that he said was safe and to be working properly. We also want to know if there should have been at least a 30 day warranty with an "as is" vehicle. The vehicle is under my wife. She got it for me to back and forth to the doctors so we don't have to put much mileage on the other vehicle we have.
