I bought my truck used in 2007 and never had a problem until last month. Now the truck stalls at least once a day and sometimes more. I have a 15 year old daughter that just started driving in May. This is very scary when it happens to me let alone her. I though maybe there was some kind of recall on this problem so I started searching the internet and found none to be listed. Then I found this sight and found that apparently this is an ongoing problem with this truck. When you pay the kind of money that these trucks cost you expect it to be reliable and safe to drive, however it is not! This is very dangerous when it stalls out at lights or as you just start to take off at busy intersections!!! Dodge really needs to do something about this before someone gets killed! It makes me want to tell them come pick it up because it's not safe to drive and put my money somewhere else!

Ram 1500 SLT 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

replaced the EGR valve. Took 30 minutes to do, and pulled the positive cable off the battery. Let it sit for 10 minutes, then reconnected the battery, started the truck, and let it idle for 5 minutes. Has been fixed for 4 months now. No more problems. Paid 50 bucks for the new EGR valve from a parts store. Dodge will try to charge you 180 bucks. Dont pay it.

MY ENGINE STALLS TOO. IF YOU GET A GOOD LEMON LAW ATTORNEY BEFORE YOUR MILES GET TOO HIGH YOU SHOULD WIN YOUR CASE. YOU COULD GET OVER 100,OOO DOLLARS. KEEP YOUR INVOICES AND ALL VEHICLE PAPERWORK. GET AN ATTORNEY. I WON MY CASE, BUT MY MILES WERE TOO HIGH. 80,000. BUT I STILL TOOK HOME OVER 5,000 BUCKS. LEAVE ME A COMMENT IF YOU NEED HELP. NEVER GIVE UP

Ram 1500 SLT 5.7L

  • 26,000 miles

I walked in my local dealer office, at 7:30 am, I brought it in for a stall issue at idle speed, coming to light or stop signs. They looked at it and could not duplicate. It only happens in the 20 F or below mornings. I tried Dry gas, higher octane fuel and different service fueling stations. Still every time 20 F and I have a car starter, which I run for about 10 mins every winter morning. I had the service call me and told me nothing wrong, I would have to leave it. I agreed to. But, what are they going to do differently. Note it stalls. They check for errors on the computer and shows none.

The best part is a guy came in 5 min after I did and he has a 2007 1500 5.7 l hemmi, and he has the same issue and they told him same thing. We both have the same issue , but nothings wrong. Thanks Dodge.

This is my 5th dodge truck and I will buy a Nissan or Toyata next. I am all for buying US but with repairs costing so much and gas prices so high.

This problem is pissing me off, the dealer can't do anything because they never see it happen. I have been to the local dealer about six times in 2 1/2 weeks, and I am going nuts. Do mechanics know anything about cars/trucks anymore or do they have to listen to the computers to tell them. Well hopefully someone else out can feel my pain, or if you have any insight for a fix please let me know. Replaced the EGR valve, but it isn't fixed still.

engine cuts off at slow idle, like everyone else with this truck. this problem has gotten me in an accident, but since my problem occurs when it wants to and not all the time, I am at fault. insurance goes, bad points at the DMV etc...

I BELIEVE THAT IF WE ALL AS A GRUOP TAKE THIS TO THE BETTER BIUSNESS BUREAU, WE COULD FIGHT THIS. THATS THE ONLY WAY. I DONT WANT TO HEAR THAT SOMEONE DIED FROM THIS. THE BBB DOES NOT LIKE DANGEROUS VEHICLES ON THE ROAD AND WE COULD CONVEINCE THEM THAT THESE TRUCKS ARE TO DANGEROUS TO BE ON THE ROAD. NO BODY WANTS TO RUN INTO A 1/2 TON STANDING STILL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET.

If anyone believes we can do this, send me contact info. my names Donnie.

P. S. I dont know about you, but I didnt pay 35-40,000 so my truck can stall at intersections.

When will the recall go into effect on the stalling problem when stopping or at idle? Just bought a used 2004 1500 ram 5.7 hemi a month ago and this problem started. The dealer keeps giving me the run around, man did i get screwed!

Ram 1500 SLT 5.7 HEMI

  • Automatic transmission
  • 34,621 miles

I have been having problems with my engine surging when I hold the truck at a steady speed. Also when it is first started up and I turn the wheels it will stall. On top of that it will stall waiting at a stop light. It all happened on one tank of gas so I thought it was crappy gas. Turns out that the Computer needed software updates and the EGR replaced. I just got it back today and the truck acts and drives like I just bought it. If you are having these problems take it to your dealership and have them perform the maintenance.

Ram 1500 SLT 5.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 66,000 miles

My truck currently has about 66,000 miles, but this problem started at around 30,000 or so. The problem seems to be intermittent in that it doesn't occur every day, but on days that it does happen, it happens 4-5 times a day. Sometimes when I come to a stop at a stop sign or light the brakes will squeal really loud and the engine will die. It starts right back up, but this is a really annoying and potentially dangerous problem. I took it to a Dodge dealer to have it looked at, but the vehicle wasn't giving a code and when they drove it it never happened. I've seen other people with this problem so I'm wondering why Dodge doesn't seem to be looking into this more.
