The dodge dash in the 2002 model is defective. The cost of a vehicle is bad enough but then to have the dash crack all apart and you can not even get dodge to fix it at their cost. The average person can't afford to fix the problem and the disassembly and reassembly is a pain the butt

I am amazed that everyone I know who has a Dodge truck has the same problem and there is no recall yet. It looks trashy and I am ashamed of the truck and try to hide. The whole dashboard has fallen in.

The dash is literally falling apart. There is no excuse for this! The truck is well taken care of, babied in fact. To replace it, the part is over $300.00 for a piece of plastic that, reportedly, is no better than the original and can also be expected to do the same. When anyone sees the dash, they think the whole truck is junk. Not very good advertising point.

Dashboard started cracking last year and is about to fall in, in spots. The plastic is really thin an made out of a pour product. Bought new in 2002 and was going to be my last Truck i have owned 5 different new Dodge trucks and this one has been the worst. I do not carry or put items on the dash and have never hit or dropped anything on it. We bought this truck for mainly vacations and to carry our slide in camper and pull our boat. Camper WT. dry 2100lb. only have 42,000 miles on it as of today. They told me when i bought it that the Cummins engine would go for 200,000 miles without having any trouble with it. If it does by that time i won't have anything else left on the truck from all the other things that are going wrong with it..

Nothing is being done about this problem. It started cracking and just hasn't quit. Maybe this is why more Toyota's are sold than Dodge? Why hasn't a recall been done on this?

Ram 3500 SLT Cummings

  • 160,000 miles

The problem with the dash started with just a few cracks.

Within just a few months, there were multiple cracks and large pieces of the dash falling in.

Anything placed on the dash could cause major damage to what's left of it, plus the fact that whatever falls in could cause further problems with the electronics below.

Also, in the unfortunate event of an accident, there could be pieces of the dash flying around in the cab of the truck injuring the driver or passengers.

The problem is not only extremely unsightly, but possibly even deadly in the event of an accident.

The dashboard on my 2002 Dodge Ram 3500 is cracking everywhere after I ran over a tree branch in the road. I filed a claim with my auto insurance & the claim was denied because the claim adjuster told me it was a problem with the cheap material that Dodge had used for the dashboard & they had had a lot of claims for the same problem with Dodges. My insurance company is fighting with Dodge trying to get them to do a recall on the dashboards. You would think after the arm & leg you have to pay for these Dodge vehicles, they could at least use quality material instead of this cheap crap. The out of pocket expense for me to replace the cheap dashboard is going to cost me $1600.00. This is a problem Dodge needs to take care of, not me!

My Dash has been cracked for a while. I moved from Washington to Virginia June 2010. It was shortly after that the dash fell apart. Now it has several very large pieces broken out so there is a very large hole in the center of my dash. It is so bad I don't think a dash cover will work.

my 2002 3500 dash went bad quick, once the first crack appeared, four weeks later chunks were missing. this truck stayed inside my shop all the time, the only time it saw sunshine was on the weekends. so the sun had nothing to do with it going bad, as i was told by a dodge dealer.

I think that Dodge should make this problem which is an overwhelming one good by either supplying new dashboards and installation free to owners..

Wow..Didnt realize there were alot of other blue-collared Americans who have the same issues with dodges P.O.S. dash board. And looks like we are gonna have to take it up the ass from the auto industry after our fearless leader gave them our tax dollars to bail them out. Issues like this is why dodge went bankrupt. Americans buying Toyota, Nissan, e.t.c. because they are better products. I have a buddy who has a 1989 Isuzu small truck with over 300,000 miles on it that is kept in the pasture,,,,,,,NO CRACKS on the dash folks. Its sad that I paid close to $40,000 for my 2002 4x4 1-ton diesel dually, fully loaded, leather e.t.c. but im embarrassed bout the dash...oh yeah, my truck is black and you can imagine what the hood looks like....PAINT PEALING!!!! We all need to somehow forward this site to dodge and call every day till they do something about it. Our government is more worried about helping the upper class and the illegal immigrants instead of helping us..."THE BLUE COLLARED TAX PAYING HARD WORKING AMERICAN"

I think the Dodge company should recall all dodges or replace the dash in all dodges that the dash has cracked. This is actually the 2nd dodge truck that I have had that the dash has cracked very bad. I like the dodge cummins engine but something needs to be done about the very poorly interior problem.
