Being the first registered owner of this vehicle, we have never had the manifold off. At 120000km the 2005 dodge is lightly used. It come from the factory with an improperly installed manifold having 3 and 4 gaskets on each port to the exhaust system. Had the manifold 'fit' correctly, there would only be one gasket per port. When the manifold gets hot, it then warps, making exhaust leak from the system (possibly into the cab). Repair by gasket replacement was impossible as the bolt holes to the manifold never did line correctly - as evident from the original assembly from the manufacturer Dodge. So replacement of the whole manifold system at a cost of $1,907.78 is necessary. Customer care at Dodge Canada when contacted wonders why the problem never arose before 120,000km. They assume owners would remove and inspect this system similar to checking your oil. The slackies on the phone have absolutely no idea. We don't take the cabs off our trucks for fun, and likewise we don't tear apart the exhaust system. Since the vehicle is 7 yrs old, yet only having 120,0000km on it, they claim it is "off warranty, so it is the owner's problem" even though it is clearly a manufacturer's defect. As a result of their "no customer care policy" I do promise to advertise this manufacturer's defect wherever and whenever I can.
