the automatic tramsmission does not always engage when put in park. Therefore it comes out and automatically goes in reverse. Chrysler's remedy is to put an alarm on the truck to have the horn blow if it is not totally engaged in park. What they do not say is that they have a problem and secrectly the linkage is also repaired when the recall is done. My truck has jumped out of park on three occasions. Two of the three times caused damage to my truck. They do not admit they have any kind of problem, but I am sure that some where at some time, someone has been hurt or killed because of this problem. Chrysler Corp. has refused to fix my truck but my local dealer says that they will try and get it fixed to keep my business. The Chrysler person with CUSTOMER CLAIMS RESOLUTION DIVISION actually hung the phone up on me when I would not accept his answer that they they do not have a problem but simply doing a recall. He did however state that they had gotten many other complaints about this problem.

Ram 3500
My husbands 2005 Dodge Ram work truck has on 3 occasions taken itself out of park and gone into reverse. The first time was at a rest stop when he left the vehicle and I was in the passenger seat. The truck started going in reverse into the path of a semi pulling into the rest stop. I actually fractured a bone jumping from the passenger seat to driver seat to save myself from being hit by the semi! It was upsetting but we thought it was a random fluke.
The second time it happened he had put the truck in park and got out to unlock and open the gate to his construction site. The vehicle jumped out of park and in reverse rolled out into the street and was clipped by a passing car. My husband ran to catch it and finally got the vehicle stopped. That time our insurance paid for the repair to the body of the vehicle but the Dodge dealer swore this was not an issue and they had no fix for it.
It has now done it for a third time and I feel this vehicle is a death trap for my husband.
