I am the owner of a new Ford C- Max and before I had driven 800 miles I had torn off both front plastic pieces under the front bumper directly in front of each wheel. This is a right and left plastic piece with two bolts and four clips holding it in place, it measures 2 1/4" deep 8" long and 6 1/2" wide. I took the vehicle to the service adviser and was told to go the body shop. Body man informed me these were not covered under the warranty and were there for appearance and to warn me when I parked on a high curb or parking bumper, but he also agreed that they could have something to do with the air flow under the vehicle. The body man says this is my problem and they can order replacements for $46.00 each plus charge to put on.
I sent Ford Motor Co. an email the same day but no reply so today I called customer service at Ford and was told that this appears to be my problem because they touched going in and out of my driveway, scrubbed on parking bumper at my bank and at my grocery store. Service adviser named Phil said that I should enter and exit my driveway on an angle and be really careful in a parking lot and slow down for the dips in the streets. He said I would be getting a letter from Ford. I told them this is either a very poor design or raise the front end or an engineering problem. Any suggestions or any one else with the same problem?
