Brake failure. This has been reported previously and I have made numerous attempts to get it repaired at the dealer and to convey the problem to the manufacturer. The problem is intermittent and impossible to predict. One of the front wheels lock up and serve as the only braking force. In dry weather it will "pull" to one side and in wet weather it will skid resulting in no braking force. On 10/08/03 this occurred in a rain shower as I pulled into an interstate rest area (20-25mph). I first applied the brakes @ 100 - 125 feet from the rear of a tractor-trailer. With maximum pedal pressure nothing responded until I was 20 -25 ft from the trailer. The vehicle is a 1999 chinook conversion on a 1998 Ford 350 motor home chasis. The unit is a death trap, a ticking time-bomb waiting to explode. I cannot sell the unit in good consience and had to buy another vehicle to supplement its use. It cannot be safely used in inclement weather or on unpaved surfaces. In the incedent above I did not expect rain and the shower began half way to my destination.
