I've tried and tried to align the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold over many years. Sometimes I've gotten it close enough that it seems livable, mostly it is way too loud. The donut gasket leaks from the engine side or from the wheel side, there doesn't seem to be any sweet spot in between where it will seal.
The pipe measures 1.75 in in dia as does the hole in the manifold. The donut fits fairly snug on the pipe, it's about 1.87 in in dia. I've only had this car for 5 years and I'm sure that the exhaust pipe has been replaced as well as the engine. I put a new exhaust manifold on when I got the car.
Any ideas on how to get this to seal?
