Flex Limited 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 53,000 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

4 separate occasions over the past 3 months the SYNC system for whatever reason decided to blank out the entire dash. This causes the car to "ACT" like it's stolen, since all Limited's are generally push start you would think there is a place to install the 1/2 key that slides out of the FOB. NO! that would be too simple, no video's, no manual stranded 300 miles from home. Accidentally figured out the whole mess of key goes into the console in a tiny little spot, one direction only, and magically the car starts-but it gets better. Then they whole console blanks out and after 20 miles it says "system reboot" and system update and comes on, ONLY this is actually a warning, so a few days later, you cannot use the FOB or key on anything and must place it back into the console to start and drive (WARNING: it just goes out). So, you call SYNC and they tell you they can't help and hang up, you call FORD and they are closed, only to find out that no matter what you do, the console or display only illuminates when it feels like it. Now we have an appointment with a new dealership due to the dealership we bought it at stating that is was a very reliable and safe car.

Flex V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

Car would not start, thought it was the battery kept getting jumps, until a service technician told me it was the alternator. Please note that the truck is still under manufacturer warranty and I also have an extended warranty which covers 1,000.000 miles or 7 years for repairs and replacements. So. I take the Flex/truck into dealer, dealer technician confirms that the alternator is over surging and caused battery to bulge and lose charge after car is turned off. Dealer contacted Ford warranty specialist for approval to replace both alternator and battery as the both are malfunctioning. Ford warranty, refused to replace battery stating that is was only covered for 36 thousand miles. This I could understand if the alternator been working properly and battery cells or the life of the battery has come to an end due to normal ware, however, this was not the case and was the result of a faulty alternator which killed the battery. I paid an additional 1800+ dollars to ensure that my Flex/truck was covered beyond the manufacturer warrant to have a piece of mind. I am very disenchanted with Ford right now and don't believe I will every purchase another warranty from them.
