I bought the vehicle in Jan. The people I bought it from said they had the whole ac system replaced the past summer and had the receipts. Well this summer came around and it started making a weird noise and then 2 weeks later the ac went completely out. We took it to where the last people had it fixed. It was still under warranty so we had it fixed. Now 2 months later, it's doing it again. We replaced everything in the ac system, I mean everything.

This appears to be a problem with the 2005 Freestyle. First we waste over $75 to recharge the system, and that did not help. Next, comes the big replacement cost. This car is plagued with issues. After a few weeks the replaced AC compressor is noisy when energized. We have taken this to an independent mechanic, and he is almost certain that the replacement compressor is junk too. Of course that will be a battle to get another compressor for free! Plus, our engine sounds like the marbles were dumped into the oil fill too. My wife and I would be unable to even sell this car to a private individual, TOO NOISY.

Unfortunate to get told that AC compressor needs to be replaced. Low use vehicle and from what I see. Other owners have experience same type of breakdown. Should be examined by Ford as recall item.

Love my car, but this year my AC runs hot air during the day and cold during the night. I had it checked out, and was told I have a FAULTY A/C COMPRESSOR, question is "WHO'S AT FAULT"?...after market $1100 oem/factory $1410....REALLY!!!!

First of all, how does this go bad when it's really only used during the summer, unless its used for the heat, I don't know I'm just guessing... that's a whole lot of cold cash that I do not have...this issue should be a recall and from what I've read on this site and others, its a head on issue with cause for concern....

Can't believe my car is less than 10 years old and I'm dealing with AC compressor issues. In addition I'm seeing condensation on the plastic where my gauges are and this could indicate issues with the Heater Core as well. What gives? Anyone else experiencing problems with their Ford Freestyle HVAC?

I purchased the 2005 Ford Freestyle All Wheel Drive. I have been extremely happy with it,eccept a few problems. I keep up regular maintenance and brakes, tires, oil changes etc. I would complain about the fabric in the car, gets very dirty hard to clean, have to keep seat covers on them, have no kids.Visibility si hard, because of glare to window and if you put down back windows it sounds like a thump, thump or airplane taking off.

Now the air conditioning is not workign and has been over 100 degrees, I cant afford to have it fixed, i have taken it inm, they have added freeon but state its probably teh compressor, becaus eit onoly gets cool a little bit once I have higher rpm and gone on the freeway and cools off just when I have arrived at my destination. Its annoying.

There are numerous complaints for this problem, the dealer gave Me a quote of over $1100.00 I have owned Ford's since I started driving at 16 and have always been happy.Ford should recall these compressors!!

I had a huge complaint but i lost it due to i hit a key that lost the page so i give the following.

* AC compressor failed on a trip with children 100 miles from home but at the time i did not know what was wrong so i was scared that the car would stop on a Sunday night. * Compressor made very loud noise * compressor smelled like it was burning * very hard / cramped location to replace so expensive to repair * mass failure rate of compressor

i purchased fords from the time i was driving but now my last three fords were money pits. I will switch brand if ford does not step up to the plate to assist but worse i may by a foreign product which i vowed never to do.

We have owned the vehicle for less than 2 years and have had nothing but problems with it. The most recent problem was the A/C compressor going out. We have not had it fixed yet because it is going to cost over $1,000. I really feel this is a problem considering my vehicle only has 80,000 miles. I will never buy another ford again!!

Ford should fix this as a recall. But only if enough of us file a formal compalint at ford.com and call headquarters and complain. Everyone with any a/c problem please do this so it will help us all out.
