My 2007 Ford Freestyle revs up by itself. When backing into my parking space I have to keep my foot on brakes back up very very slowly due to the car wanting to lung back on its own. Not able to use my A/C or heater. When A/C is on the car really revs up and then eventually cuts off with all the light being lit up, the wrench and engine lights up, then I have to wait about 5 minutes before the car cuts back on. This is very dangerous as when im waiting at a stop light the car will lunge forward by itself, I could hit someone accidentally or I could just run into another car. The car seems to have a mind of its own, its scary. I pay for this car and I cant even use the A/C or heater my kids and I just have to suffer. I cant afford all these problems as I have six children to feed. They need to take care of this problem it could be life or death.

When I am going at a low speed the car goes dead. Example being when I turn in my driveway or into a parking space. Also the car surges and jumps forward or sometimes backwards when I put it in reverse or park. It is beginning to happen all the time and is dangerous! I am so frustrated I don't know what to do. I actually ran across a site where tons of others are having the same problem. I do not have $750 plus to pay on fixing something that Ford is well aware they fouled up and did nothing about. As with all the other cases my A/C quit long ago. I feel they should be held accountable and a recall issued so they can pay for the repair of an item that should have been sold in proper working order. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2007 Ford Freestyle. The contact stated that the vehicle would stall when braking to a complete stop. The contact stated that the failure would most frequently occur when the heater or air conditioning was activated. The contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic where the contact was advised that there was debris in the transmission fluid and discoloration. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated the vehicle was unsafe to drive because the vehicle would also surge forward without warning. The failure mileage was 120,000.

I have a 2007 Ford Freestyle and I have been having problems with the car surging forward and backwards when I try to park and backup. This also occurs at stoplights and sometimes the car will cut off. Even when I apply the brakes the car still trys to surge. Its like it accelerates all on its own and at times it has even been hard to stop the car due to issue. It was only happening occasionally but now its happens quite a few times a week. There should be a recall on this car due to this problem..

During low speeds, idling speeds, car accelerates or surges. More noticeable when air conditioning is running or in idle mode in drive up lines. Wrench warning light comes on. If I turn car off and then back on it usually removes the problem. Occurs when going forward or backwards.

On 07/21/2007, I purchased a 2007 Ford Freestyle which was used as a demo. Recently at 50,500 miles I have been hearing a light thumping sound from the engine area while idling. Per my visit of mid June 2011 to the dealer service area, I was informed that the vehicle only required a transmission sensor to be replaced. Since the last visit, I have contacted the service department twice and have been told that the sensor is on back order. I could hear that hesitation in their voice like as if they are keeping something from me. I don't like this. The vehicle also lunges unexpectedly and this is of great concern to me. I am just glad that I have not been hit from behind. I have just been very lucky. In regards to the noise, I am speculating a faulty cvt transmission.

We are experiencing the lunging and sudden acceleration at idle speed on our 2007 Ford Freestyle. When moving in a parking lot, it is very apparent, particularly as you change from reverse to forward. You really need to pay attention, and keep your foot on the brake because the vehicle does lunge. We recently have had another issue with this vehicle while driving on vacation. The little "wrench" appeared near the end of our trip and the vehicle appeared to be losing "power" to the wheels. After the vehicle cooled down, it operated normally and the wrench did not appear again, yet.

I have had problems with the car wanting to accelerate forward or backwards. At first I thought I was imaging until while at walmart when I put the in reverse = car surged backwards while foot on the brake - about hit a child - when put in forward gear = car surged - jerked - had no rpms. At time of purchase I drilled the sales manager about the transmission and stated that I did not want the same problems as experienced with my Windstar. Was told different type of transmission, update - not gear driven - solved the problems = have not had complaints about the transmission -(definitely a lie - found complaints on line0 at fort mill Ford in fort mill, SC. Once this problem started, had no RPM to speak of - drove with the accelerator to the floor - max speed I could reach was approx. 35 to 40 mph. After researching, it was found that Ford knew this has been a problem from first complaint (see on line) unless you force the issue - Ford dealers denies until brought to their attention the research I done on the problem - they replaced the throttle. I have no confidence that this has solved the problem. Ford should be forced to do a complete recall - reimburse those that had to pay for this error which Ford was very knowledgeable due to the complaints on line. Ford needs to prove that they have solved this issue.

Vehicle surges without driver's foot on the accelerator. Engine revs and vehicle lurches forward until brakes applied at which time engine may die. A warning light may or may not illuminate on the dashboard as a "wrench" symbol. When the ignition is turned off and restarted, the warning light designated by a "wrench" symbol goes out.

Own a Ford Freestyle 2007. When I put the car into drive, while the A/C was on, the car "lunged" forward and the "wrench" light came on the dashboard. I checked my manual and it referred to the throttle body possibly having an issue. I immediately shut off A/C and shut car off. I then restarted car and the wrench has not appeared since.

My 2007 Ford Freestyle started jumping or lunging when I would be parking. I would have my foot firmly on the brake and was about to put the gear in park when the car would just jump or lunge forward. I would push harder on the brake and it would stop. Fortunately, I did not hit a car or wall in front of me. After this happened several times over a three week period, I took the car in for service this week and they had to replace the throttle. It cost me $856.64 at my local Ford dealership.

My 2007 Ford Freestyle started making a "revving up" type sound when car was in park or reverse. It would feel like it was going to lunge forward if I was stopped at a light ect. It stalled out on me and the wrench light would come on. It would start back up. I took it to the dealer asap when this started happening. I have approx 80,000 miles on my car and was told I was past my warranty due to mileage and they would not honor the 5 yr warranty. The dealer had me call Ford to see if they could help me out with adjusting the cost of repair. Needless to say-this appeared to be a scam to get your car repaired at the dealer. I am now looking at $2500 in repairs to fix a bad bearing in my transmission. This car should be recalled on these transmission problems! Ford needs to stand by their customers! I wonder why they stopped making Freestyles" who is going to bail us out on these repair bills"

Vehicle occasionally lurches when parking or backing up without any pressure on the accelerator (in most cases my foot is on the brake). In the past it has lurched forward, then stalled when making a tight turn into a parking space and the check engine light has come on. Usually after shutting the car down and waiting for several minutes the engine will restart. The only pattern to the lurches appears to be tight turns and perhaps high outside temperatures. Although the vehicle sometimes lurches forward during normal shut down even on cool days. I took the vehicle to the Ford dealer twice in June of 2010. The Ford dealer's maintenance department stated that they could not replicate the failure. The Ford dealer's maintenance department replaced an air flow meter on the first visit and said that they could find nothing else wrong on the second. The problem continues to persist. Only constant vigilance and luck have prevented an accident.

2007 Ford Freestyle- the transmission has a bearing going that is causing the transmission to slip. This car is only 4 yrs old. When you are driving you feel the engine revving up. Ford will not stand behind its warranty on the replacement of the transmission. I also have had the wrench light go one. The car is starting to lose power when driving on the freeway, I also have had issues with the middle seat not going down properly. It was replace once when the car was first delivered and will not go down again. I also have paint peeling off left side of hood. This started when the car was less that 2 yrs old. Ford will not help with any of the costs to fix any of the above. I am located in Ohio.
