The Ford Fusion Hybrid (FFH) will not start reliably and the lock indicator will flash and the upper left display will cycle through all the systems and service. I do have a video and will try to upload. Once this occurs, the car will not start, most of the times. I have had the FFH be able to drive a couple times with all the lights and alarms going.

We had to have the car towed one morning to the dealer and the battery was bad. (Bad Cell) There were a lot of DTC codes, but the car did finally start. Later in the day the car had the same problem. We stopped at another dealer in Tucson and they reprogrammed our keys in case it was a lock problem. We then tried several times and it seemed to work. The dealer erased several communication DTCs.

The next day the FFH would not start, so we called another dealer to look at the car. We dropped it off in Carson City and rented a car. After several days we stopped back by the dealer and they said the car started everytime and they could not reproduce the problem. The next day we picked our car up and within 20min, it happened again. The dealer sent the tech to us and he recorded LOTS of DTCs and said the modules were not communicating. We did get it started (finally) and got back to the dealer.

This is the bad part. The tech got on the phone w/ Ford and they had no idea what was going on and offered no solutions. The dealer said just drive it and see if it happens again. This is a horrible suggestion! Would you send your family off in this car?

After a couple hours the service manager said he could look at it, but it could take weeks or a month and thousands of dollars to find and fix. Although we have an extended warranty, it may not be covered. We later looked at the warranty and feel that it would be covered, but no guarantee. The service manager even suggested we don't turn the car off on our trip and fuel it while the engine is running, which is illegal, we were told. Overall, we did not have a good experience at Capital Ford in Carson City.

Due to the above, we decided to take our chances and make our way back home. We made to Homles Tuttle Ford in Tucson and they are fixing the car, hopefully. They have been pretty good and have worked on more hybrids. We did need to get a rental car and will go back in 5 days to pick up the car if it is fixed.

This has been a very stressful experience! We were disappointed in the FFH and the inability of the service people to have tools to quickly get a starting point on the problem and Ford hotlne is no better. Needless to say, we are very unhappy with the car, the service and Ford for leaving us stranded. Ford has shown no interest in caring about us and the situation. We thought Ford might be more interested in understanding this and making sure this does not happen to other people. So much for quality is job #1.

We have owned Toyota, Accura and (2) Subarus and we did not have any trouble with these cars. We had the Subarus for 12 years! Double needless to say, we will look to get a different car if this is not fixed and Ford does not have a good reason the problem.
