Coolant leak was behind engine in EGR cooler and leaked at first slowly into exhaust system. Could not figure where coolant was going, replaced coolant, levels go down, no leak under vehicle. Went to Ford for another problem but was missed by techs. No reading DTC codes by techs. Watched temps on gauges and did not effect. Driving 65 miles from home engine slows down to 20 to 35 mph. Read screen on dash and only message was DEF fluid below 50%. Filled back up did not solve. Had towed for $257.00 dollars to dealership. Diesel parts are extremely difficult to come by according to diesel tech... takes a week to get any part. Picked up from dealership after a week because tech says Ford only has 2 sensors in the US to replace the bad contaminate particles sensor. Will have to bring back a third time to have sensor replaced when it comes in.
This is a mobile mechanic van and we are unable to operate our business at normal capacity while van sits and waits on parts. Engine is built in South Africa according to my read. Would be nice if parts were readily available. Fixed under warranty which was a plus and EGR cooler has new part number so hopefully this issue has been fixed.
