Key can be removed from ignition without completely shutting off ignition. Consumer was told lock cylinder was a wearable part. A small child was able to move shift mechanism out of park, allowing vehicle to roll. Another child was stuck in the process. Owner was aware of other van with same problem.

If ignition switch is turned only slightly towards "on" postion(not at acc position), steering wheel unlocks and gearshift is unlocked, defeating the electric inter-lock feature on brake pedal/gearshift. Our three year old entered our car (keys in ignition) and did just that. I tested six other Ford products with autotrans. And they did the same thing. This is serious problem which took a three year old crashing our van to find ! thank god he is safe.

Transmission can shift into reverse, but will not back up. The engine head gaskets blew. The interior lights would go on/off on their own, day or night. The key shift interlock will not release out of park position. The front disc brakes had crumbled inside. Heard grinding/rambling noises when the brakes were applied. Been to dealer 3 different times for brakes.

Four-year old son took keys put them in the ignition, and turned the ignition from the locked position to off position. Without starting engine or touching brakes, shifted gear into reverse, causing vehicle to roll out of garage into street and next door neighbor's driveway, missed hitting a tree/mailbox/car, and then rolled forward into a nother driveway. There were no injuries.
