2003 Ford Windstar yellow ABS light and red brake lights in dash stay on. Took vehicle to Ford dealership from which I purchased it and was told I need a ABS controller and no recall was ever issued related to this problem.

ABS and red internal brake light intermittently light up due to faulty switch. There is an unrelated recall issued for 1998-2003 Windstar but it does not cover this particular problem. Since the recalls was issued have seen that this problem is rampant among Windstar owners. This causes a safety issue as we are told it is just a switch and not to worry but then if there is a problem we are unaware.
I am experiencing a problem with my antilock brake and brake light warnings on my dashboard. I have been experiencing this problem since approximately 2006. My particular Ford Windstar has not been included in the most recent recall for such problems.

First and only owner of 2003 Ford Windstar. The red brake light and the yellow ABS light keep coming on on the dashboard during warm weather. No lights are lit during the colder months. I have read that this can lead to fire.
In my 2003 Ford Windstar van for the last 20 30 thousand miles the ABS and brake light come on intermittently and randomly. Had it checked at repair shop. They could not detect or simulate problem. Quoted $800 - $1200 to replace switches/wires as possible solutions. In checking with complaint department, this is a very common issue with this vehicle, leading to engine fires. I believe Ford should issue a recall for the issue before more vehicles catch fire, and secondly before the owners of this vehicle pay over $1000 to fix something that is a defective system in the car.
ABS light and brake lights stays on, cruise control never has worked, have fixed the brakes and the lights are still on. Now I think the 02 sensor I guess it may be the oxygen sensor is out also I think it keep on burning up my alternators, I put a new last year and just had to put another one and I think it is about gone also.
I was pulled over by police for no brake lights. However, the 3rd brake light works. After all the bulbs, relay box, etc were checked, all were ok. I was advised to check to see if any other complaints about both brake lights not working.

I have replaced front brake pads and rotors and I have had the rear brakes done as well. However, the warning lights continue to turn on. Brake and ABS lights go on intermittently on 2003 Ford winsdtar. The lights go off after shutting car off. Brake pads have been replaced recently. No visible signs of brake fluid leakage.
