I bought this peice of crap Ford Windstar only 2 months ago. You would think that a 2003 model vehicle wouldn't be in such bad shape. OMG!! Here's my latest problem: The engine idles high when you first start it, once it sits for a few minutes it mellows out a bit. Here's the weird part, when I turn the wheel (while in park or with my foot on the brake) the engine surges. Let me tell you, when you are trying to park a car in a parking lot it is really hard to NOT hit one when this happens.

Any suggestions what might be wrong with this peice of crap now? I've spent over 2 grand fixing this vehicle AFTER buying it!!!! HELP.

Windstar V6

Engine ildes around 2000RPMS. Could either be the throttle or idle senor to the fuel injection system. Possibly the throttle or idle cables. Fix under extended warranty around 185.00. After having it fixed, same problem still occurred. Make sure mechanic actually takes apart and inspects the throttle and idle sensors and the cables.

Windstar SE V6

My Ford Windstar's engine idles very high and races. It does this at random. There is no way to predict when the engine will race. When it idles high I don't even have to use the gas peddle to drive the car. It will drive 40 mph all by its self. It very similar to riding a horse, in terms of having to control the vehicle, I have to hold it back to control it! The car borders on dangerous at times. When it is idling high and I place it in park the engine races so loudly and is so noisy. I just got the title in the mail last month. Paid off at last, and I feel I have to get rid of it! It races at will, the lights turn on and off, the air conditioning is now making a taping noise, and check engine sensor light has turned on this week. We've always been a ford family. I'm done.
