The timing cover gasket was leaking oil really bad. Had to have it replaced. It still cost me my deductible, even though most of it was covered under extended warranty. It was a pain in the butt and I was without my car for 2 weeks and I had to pay for the rental car.

Acadia SLT V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 129,835 miles

Dealer replaced timing chains (due to service bulletin) on 8/23/13 at 117813 miles. Brought car in for quick lookover before a long roadtrip on 3/12/14 and they found that the timing chain cover is now leaking. Mileage at time was 129,835. Our dealer has 12 month/12,000 mile warranty but we were over by 22 miles so they would not fix under warranty. My complaint is that the timing chain cover had to be removed when they replaced the timing chains, and it didn't leak before that and now it does. Sure seems related to me! I called GM customer care, who put me in touch with our dealer's "customer experience rep", who researched for me and still no luck on getting it included as a warranty repair. Offered me $1000 owner loyalty cash towards new purchase (can't afford new car right now) and 15% off repair which is quoted at $2150! All because we were 22 miles over their warranty when the problem was discovered, which I truly believe is a result of the prior repair!
