Every time it rains, it starts leaving my garage. I run thru a few small water puddles, turn left or right onto a street and the power steering goes out. My wife almost went up the curb and on the sidewalk, she can't muscle it, and I struggle to muscle it. Once you get going the strange noise goes away and the steering comes back. It's been to the shop where I bought it twice,( Sheboygan Auto) its been covered by GMC each time. The dealer doesn't have a clue. It's like water splashes up and F©®™ everything up!! Only put about 8000 miles on it since I got it last Dec 2014, hasn't even been a year yet. This is buy far the worst purchase ever, getting ready to bale out of this pile of crap!!

Acadia SLT 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 75,000 miles

Our 2008 GMC Acadia has a problem with the power steering going out while turning at low speeds. The last time this happened, and it seems to be getting worse, was Friday6/20/14. While turning in a tight parking lot almost hit another car head on while the steering locked up. Jammed my hand in the steering wheel while trying to gain control. This needs to be addressed with GM before there is a death involved.

Acadia SLS

  • Automatic transmission
  • 76,190 miles

On a rainy day the steering locked several times while turning left. It has not happened again since but we no longer feel safe in this car, you never know if will happen again. Then you google the issue and read tons of complaints of this same issue on the 2008 model. Now will a failed transmission at 76K miles and the warranty expired 5 months earlier, can't wait to get rid of this car. Unreliable and unsafe!

Acadia

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,000 miles

My husband and I purchased this 2008 Acadia in January 2012 (used of course) with 80,000 miles already on it. It had only had one owner prior to us. Loved this SUV until this last January. I thought the current problems I was having may have been from doing $9,000 in damage from hitting a deer in December but after doing some research I realize that is not the case. On several occasions while trying to pull into or out of a parking stall I have lost all power steering. It does regain after a few moments. No warning lights and such have come on in the past. I have had it in the shop a few times to have the pump checked with no obvious problems i.e leaks, low fluid levels, etc. More recently I have lost my power steering while driving at speeds around 20mph. This mainly occurs when I am trying to make left hand turns but has also been happening with right hand turns. Took it in to the shop again a few days ago and the mechanic suggested that we replace the pump. Cost $900. He then told me that it may also be the rack and pinion which would be around $900 as well. I guess we aren't the only ones having problems with our GM because he said he had a gal in there a few weeks ago with a Yukon that was doing the same exact thing!
