The ABS system on my 1999 GMC Yukon is exhibiting brake release at low speed. It can be described exactly as in NHTSA campaign id number 05V379000. The GM dealer said this vehicle has the same brake hardware as the 2000 model Yukon which has been recalled, however, my vehicle has not been recalled. The recall should be expanded to include those 1999 year Yukon such as mine. I sometimes have to really push hard to get the vehicle stopped while the ABS system is releasing brake pressure. I am familiar with ABS design, since I was at one time the manager of the GM ABS project and personally designed brake pressure release valves. I should not have to pay to have this safety defect corrected.

I have a 1999 GMC Yukon. Your campaign 05V-379 regarding ABS problems with GM trucks is exactly the problem we are experiencing. (ie extended stopping distances at low speed due to ABS activation). In fact, the original acknowledgement to NHTSA and announcement from GM included my model year. However, when it was executed, the model years were changed to 2000-2002. I have the same safety problem and believe 1999 Yukon should be included.

I recently had my 1999 GMC Yukon serviced for ABS wheel sensor failure. Remedy was replacement of both front wheel ABS speed sensors. After the service, I was made aware of GM recall #05068 having to do with ABS wheel sensors malfunctioning due to salt corrosion. My vehicle has been registered in New York state from 1999 to 2003. Currently, it is registered in Virginia. I was told by GM that my vehicle will not be recalled because it is not registered in a "salt belt state". I requested that my vehicle be included in this recall due to it being registered and used in New York most of its' in service time. My claim was denied because the vehicle is currently registered in Virginia. I was further told by GM that if my vehicle was still registered in NY, the recall would be issued. I feel this recall should be issued to vehicles affected, not just vehicles that are currently located in a certain geographical location.

My 1999 GMC Yukon slt 4X4 5.7L VIN[xxx] has the same unwanted low speed ABS activation that is currently being recalled on 1999 and up GMC light trucks. I contacted two local dealers and they both told me that me VIN was not recalled. I also called GM directly and was told the same thing. I think the scope of this recall needs to be expanded. I recently had to replace the rf wheel speed sensor and the problem has gone away. The ABS/wheel speed sensor is not sold separately from the hub assembly. I paid $380 plus labor for an aftermarket hub assembly just to get an $80 sensor. I have the old sensor. The anti-lock brakes activate for no reason on dry pavement causing the pedal to go to the floor and create an exceptionally long stopping distance. This problem occurs almost every time I try to stop or during stopping at speeds less than 10 M.P.H. there is a current recall on G.M. models 00-02 but they said my 99-Yukon doesn't qualify when its having the exact same symptoms-now what?

I own a 1999 GMC Yukon. I have been experiencing a problem with the brakes whereby the ABS kicks in when the vehicle is traveling under 10 mph. I have had it to my mechanic and a GMC dealership. The behavior is identical to the GM recall 05V-379. The dealership claims that the design of my brakes is different and not covered by the recall although the symptoms are identical. I logged a consumer complaint with GM and they reply that my vehicle is not covered under the recall, although it was manufactured in the time frame noted in the recall and despite the fact that I live in the "salt-belt" region covered by the recall. The remedy is to replace the entire hub (both front wheels) according to the dealership.

1999 GMC Yukon experienced anti- lock brake problems related to speed sensor corrosion. Sensors were replaced by dealer in May 2005 pursuant to the ongoing investigation of the problem at that time. Understanding that in the event of a recall, I would be reimbursed. Initial recall correspondence by GM to NHTSA in August indicated that 1999 Yukon were covered by recall. Same correspondence was sent to dealers in August 2005 indicating coverage of 1999 Yukon. Recall correspondence from GMC to dealers and owners in October, 2005 now do not cover 1999 Yukon's. I had these repairs made with the understanding that an investigation was underway, involving 1999 Yukon's and with assurances from dealer that reimbursement would be made if recall was warranted. On 11/23/05 spoke with GM and dealer and both indicate that recall on this vehicle is not warranted and reimbursement is not authorized.
