Our 2007 Civic transmission has had to have major work and parts replacement to correct sticky shifting, squeaky clutch, gear wear ... The dealership mechanic blamed my wife's shifting technique for the gear wear, but she drove a Cavalier shift for 5 years previously and it's still running great. I'm worried that the company will not honor the warranty to it's full extent because of their mechanic's opinion.

Ever since I bought this car I been having problems, doing so the clutch went the second week I bought it then every 5 months after that, now when I took it to the dealer because second gear didn't work 1st thing they said was the "clutch"." we need to take it apart to investigate the problem in by doing this is we find that its your fault u will have 2 pay $$$". figures like usual I have to come out of my pocket. is burned then the next day they say its the clutch plus the tran then after that it was just the flywheel in the gears in the transmission is striped in your warranty will not cover.Not only that I have to put in 2 quarts of oil every another time I fill up. In they say thats normal wish they told me that when they sold me the car

Ok, not sure if this is a transmission problem or clutch. My car will not shift smoothly into 3rd gear. All others are ok and smooth, 3rd wants to grind. Honda has driven it and finds nothing wrong with it. I have been driving standards since I was 15. It is what I learned to drive. I know I can drive a standard. I had a mustang that was 8 years old with about 170,000 miles on it before the clutch went out. This will be the third time I am bringing this in for this problem. I love the car, it is a blast to drive, but I brought Honda because of the makers rep with great cars. I am having a hell of a time with this one.

I go the dealership for all maintenance done to my car, upon going for maintenance, I told serviceman that I was having trouble with shift when I go to third, that is wasn't going into third smooth, or it will grind into third gear. I was told the first time it was fine had to be the driver. Go back to dealership for a second time with same complaint, car is fine, though they did mention it could be my clutch?, after taking car around the block, they don't get any grinding or trouble going into third gear. Was told to try and notice if it was when the car was cold or hot when problem takes place? Problem never corrected and still exist.

Buying my Honda Civic was the worst purchase I've ever made. They have horrible customer service at Vandergriff Honda but most irritating of all they don't stand behind they're "quality" product. Honda supposedly has a good reputation for lasting a long time but they have a horrible one with me. My old 1995 Saturn never gave me this trouble. I bought a 2007 Honda Civic late February '09. On Monday Sept. 14, '09 I was driving to work and was in 4th gear going between 50-55mph. I went to push the clutch in to switch to 5th gear and the clutch wouldn't go all the way down only about half way. So I pulled over and stopped the car. I started it back up again and tried to push my clutch down and it worked and I shifted into first gear just fine. I even practiced switching down to second just to be sure. Then when I went to push the accelerator pedal to go in 1st gear the engine just revved and wouldn't move. I never heard any funny noises, no bangs, no car jolting, no engine lights ever came on nothing! So I had it towed to the dealership and they said my transmission was out and they were going to have to tear it down and find out if it was manufacturer defect or customer abuse to see if it'd be covered by warranty. If it was defected they'd cover otherwise I'd have to pay $940 just for them to tear it apart and not fix it all. Well on Friday they called and said it was just my clutch it was going to get replaced and it'd be ready on Tuesday. Then Tuesday they called and said during the test drive it went into all 5 gears but wouldn't go into reverse so something was wrong with the reversal gear and the transmission. They told me they'd have to tear it down again and the same $940 risk factor would apply all over again.
Well then they called back the following Monday and said there was no reason why the clutch and transmission would go out unless it was customer abuse. That is such crap and makes me so mad that they can take advantage of their customers like that. I even asked how do I prove it's not my fault or is it just your word rules? They said there wasn't a way for me to prove it but that both clutch and transmission wouldn't have gone out unless I had done something to it. I told them I was driving in 4th gear went to shift into 5th and couldn't so that's my fault?!!! He responded well maybe it slipped into reverse. On the highway!??? I have never owned an automatic and have been driving a standard for 9 years. I know how to drive it and I know darn well that I didn't shift into reverse on the highway. And if the car slipped into reverse how is that at all my fault!!!??? Then he said well you probably shifted at too high of an RPM. Again WRONG! Going between 50-55 in 4th gear does NOT put you in high RPM! I don't understand at all.
I'm very upset and feel totally taken advantage of. I don't even trust them to fix it. As soon as I have my car towed from their garage, I will never give them another dime to support their business. This may be the 1 in 10,000 case for Honda but I feel they should take care of those exceptions.
