Took it to Honda to get the extended 6 year powertrain warrenty due to oil dilution. My engine bay reeks like gas when I remove the dip stick to smell and smells like combusted gas. I personally own a 65 Chevy pick up so I know what oil smells like. Also have had multiple Integras. I know this makes no difference but I can tell you I’m pretty sure something else more is in the oil. It seems way more than any normal direct injection. Called Honda America and they are getting calls about the issue daily! They are well aware of the issue and are offering a 6 year powertrain warranty (if your car applies). It’s more like a band-aid. I also asked if I did receive the new tune am I going to get 37mpg like advertised on the new one ? Not a huge deal just not what it said on the paper. Why bullshit me? recommend I take it to Honda dealer as my car is 2017 si and it applies to the possible issue. And stated by her this is not a recall.

Called multiple dealers and they played dumb as expected. Ultimately they will not even give the new tune for the higher RPM until either 1 of 4 code pop up and one of those is a misfire. I asked “so we wait for it f*ck up and jeopardize the longevity of my motor ?” He said yes wait for that moment and bring it in.

Is anybody aware of the extended 6 year unlimited powertrain warranty on the civic and also crvs ? Honda will not bring This to your attention you must call get your car checked out by a honda dealer for oil dilution or said 4-5 codesto Qualify.

This is going to affect the SI just like the CRV due to the fact it’s to overpowered for the pistons and rings. Same goes for the accord 1.5t.

Gas in your oil is bad but not that bad I guess, but a lot of gas in your oil is a bad thing.

Does anybody have any input ? Would be greatly appreciate.

There is a defect in the vehicle’s 1.5L Earth Dreams engine as it appear to have excess fuel building up inside the oil pans, causing overflow and dilution problems.

Dealer looked at dipstick and said it was overfilled by 1/2 qt. Also saw my oil analysis which said oil was in critical condition with more than 5% dilution. And then they said they could see no problem. I have contacted an attorney and they asked if I would rather wait for honda to come up with a fix or join the class action suit that they will be starting sometime next week. Waiting to hear from Honda corporate before I commit.

oil mixing with gas

This problem with the engine oil dilution has left my car disabled four times now. The most recent being on May 18 2018. Honda has offered a 7 year 130k warranty with a time limit, insinuating that I have to rush into accepting or declining their offer. Acceptance means they close the case file and I am marked "a happy client", where refusal or running the clock out implies that I am content because I didn't need their warranty extension.

My concern is that being stuck on the side of the highway 4 times in the first year of owning this car is reason enough to NOT WANT TO DO THIS FOR ANOTHER 6 YEARS. They don't have a solution but they can't relieve me of the burden of this vehicle. More disappointed in Honda Canada than anything in my life.

Civic EX-L 1.5t

  • CVT transmission
  • 2,500 miles

Started blowing huge smoke clouds from the exhaust after driving for a bit, so I brought it into the dealer to check it out as it seemed very concerting. Turns out the 1.5T Honda Civics are experiencing the same issue as the CR-Vs with the oil getting diluted with fuel and my oil level was higher than it should have been because of that. They said Honda is working on a fix, and until then when I get smoke clouds again just bring it in and they'll change my oil again.

Honda dealers knew the problem, but they did not solve the problem. The reversing image was solved. The problem of the wiper was also solved. However, the increase in the oiliness of gasoline did not solve the problem. Honda seems to treat American guests as fools.
