I am writing to express my concern regarding a serious issue I encountered with my vehicle. On September 9th while driving, the sunroof of my car spontaneously shattered without any apparent cause or impact. I did not see or hear anything that could have hit the sunroof to result in such damage, and I was driving under normal conditions. This is an alarming safety issue, and I would like to understand how such a failure could occur. It not only caused significant inconvenience but also posed a serious risk to my safety while on the road. I believe this may be due to a defect in the glass or its installation, and I am requesting an immediate investigation into the cause of this incident.

my 2019 Honda Civic Sport has 2 different recalls and this car has not been fixed or checked by a mechanic at this time, I was sent back home from my appointment at Honda Loma Linda dealership with a promised phone call to resolve the situation, which as today is: 1- car stall's unexpectedly while driving, when this happens it looses power. 2- AC was not working properly since the car was bought in 2022, I set my appointment at Honda dealership but service was denied due to some other vehicles priority, my phone calls were never returned and as today I've been spending out of my pocket trying to fix the issue on my own despite I had it reported to the dealership quite while ago.

An internal module was not working properly causing the car to not shut off properly and drain the battery. The car alarm would also go off randomly. It was causing there to be issues with starting the car and concern when driving due to the battery potentially not functioning properly and it being strained. A Honda dealer says this is due to an internal module not working properly. One message that appeared was -?? keyless access system problem-??. But this message did not appear once i started my car again after the batter was drained.

My car is not starting properly due to the recall. I reached out to my dealership and they basically told me there is nothing they can do due to the part being on recall. I am a single mother to a [XXX] daughter and with this being my only form of transportation I cannot afford to get a new vehicle or miss work due to not having a vehicle. I am worried my car will stall in the middle of the road with my daughter in it. I am upset the dealership told me there is nothing they can do when it is primary not my fault there is a recall or parts. I understand but this is unfair to costumers for the company not having back up plans in this type of situations. I cannot continue paying for a car that is broken that is out of my control. Is there a different route we can take for this issue " A replacement ? A refund " Anything. I don-??t mean to be rude. Just very frustrated and upset. Recall for A/C components was serviced. Less than a year later, Evaporator for A/C experiencing same issue. Dealership doesn't want to warranty, asking for $1500, even though evaporator experiencing same issue as recalled components. Online research finds this is extremely common.

The air conditioning system has a leak. There are a lot of complaints about it online and they already issued an extended warranty for Civic vehicles covering up to year 2018 for a leaking condenser. Right now I have no air conditioning.

My engine stalled out a few days ago on the way home from work. My mileage was 28 miles until empty and the car suddenly was coming to a stop but wouldn-??t allow me to accelerate. The car then died and I had to get it jumped. I-??m not sure if it-??s the fuel pump recall. I-??ve contacted the dealership and nobody has returned my calls about getting this fuel pump module recall fixed

Subject: Formal Complaint - Premature AC Evaporator Failure in 2019 Honda Civic Vehicles National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) 1200 New Jersey Avenue SE Washington, DC 20590 Dear NHTSA, I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding the premature failure of the air conditioning (A/C) evaporator in my 2019 Honda Civic EX. The substantial repair cost, exceeding $2,100, leaves me deeply concerned about a potentially widespread defect within this model's A/C system. My dealership informed me that other crucial A/C components, such as the condenser and compressor, are covered by an extended 10-year warranty. However, the evaporator, is not. This disparity in coverage seems unjustified, given the significant number of similar complaints I have found online. A discussion thread [XXX] {Honda forum} ) features numerous Honda owners reporting evaporator failures, with a Honda mechanic's post highlighting the issue's frequency. I purchased this vehicle with the expectation of Honda's renowned reliability. I face significant financial hardship within a year of purchase. A previous substantial engine wiring repair further burdened my situation, even leading to my full coverage insurance being dropped. Now, facing the steep cost of the evaporator repair, I am left with expensive liability-only insurance. Based on my experience, the widespread online reports, and the extended warranties on other A/C components, I have strong reason to believe that this model's A/C system is inherently faulty. I urge the NHTSA to investigate this issue and consider the potential need for a recall or extended warranty coverage for the A/C evaporator to protect other Honda owners from similar unexpected expenses. I have attached the repair estimate for your reference. Thank you for your attention and dedication to vehicle safety. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I received a notice from Honda dated "February 2024." The notice states that "the fuel pump module may have an improperly molded impeller. Over time the impeller can deform and cause the fuel pump to become inoperable... an inoperable fuel pump could prevent an engine from starting, cause a vehicle to lose drive power, or stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash or injury." Honda acknowledges the fact that there COULD be an issue with certain of their vehicles, but later states that "[t]he replacement parts needed to repair your vehicle are not currently available but are expected to become available in the fall of 2024." Knowing that Honda wants me to drive a possibly defective vehicle for at least 6 more months while KNOWINGLY allowing me to do so with the "increas[ed]... risk of a crash or injury, " is extremely concerning. I contacted American Honda Motor Co., Inc. customer service and the representative informed me that she has "made a case" for me and that, "if anything happens, just bring it to a dealer." She could not provide me adequate answers to my follow-up questions. Specifically, I am concerned that, if it does happen, why bring it to a dealer" Honda has explicitly stated in their recall notice that the "parts needed to repair [my] vehicle are not currently available." Additionally, suppose, as Honda cautions, the "risk of a crash or injury" occurs and I do not have the opportunity to make it to a dealership" I, any passengers, or any other driver on the road, Honda operator or not, could become deceased as a result of an "inoperable fuel pump." I also drive a Kia Stinger and, as your agency might be aware, this issue was front and center with Kia a few months ago. Unfortunately, my Stinger fell victim and thankfully, I was in my driveway when it occurred. I am not comfortable driving this 2019 Honda Civic given this information and my past experience. This behavior and "notice" from Honda is evidence of their negligence.

I was driving on a relatively hot day around 85F and the car AC was working fine but in the course of 30 min the ac started blowing hot air on my face while I was driving on freeway. The temperature was set to 69F but it still kept blowing hot air. After a while it started giving me a headache and I had to turn it off. I got it checked by Honda dealership and there is an Evaporator leak in the car confirming why I got a headache. This is a safety risk to the passengers of the vehicle as high concentrations of the ac refrigerant can leak in the car potential poisoning or making the driver loose consciousness and loose control of the car causing an accident. The problem has been confirmed by the dealership as there is an extended warranty for the condenser due to the high pressures of the newer refrigerant causing holes in condenser and evaporator but there is NO extended warranty for the evaporator which poses a greater risk to the drivers than the condenser since the part is inside of the cabin.

On Sunday morning, 8/27/2023, I entered my car after having driven it an hour prior for around 30 minutes to and from a sandwich shop. I entered the vehicle and turned the engine on without issue, and attempted to accelerate. After making it about ten feet, the acceleration on the gas pedal suddenly stopped working. I would push the gas pedal and the car would not move, nor the engine even rev. Confused, I parked and turned the car off and on again. Upon turning the car on, the engine stalled for a brief moment before slowly engaging. It was at that moment that I felt the entire car shifting back and forth, shaking. I immediately shut the car off out of fear and waited for a few moments before making a second attempt, being met with the exact same result. The next day, I entered the vehicle and attempted to turn it on again. This time, it started up and the engine engaged without any issue. However, I was now bombarded by dozens of error messages on my dashboard with systems such as emergency break, ABS, power steering, etc. giving me warnings. This morning, I had a mechanic come out and attempt diagnose the issue. He was confused when running the diagnostic tool through the systems, as he received "permanent codes" regarding several issues with the car. Taking some time to research, his opinion was that there may be an issue with the fuel pump motor. There is an open recall on 2019 Honda Civics for the fuel pump, however my specific vehicle does not seem to show up as needing this fix when I search with my VIN. After taking some time to check things, the Mechanic and myself proceeded to test drive and ensure that the car seemed safe to operate, where the mechanic approved my vehicle and encouraged me to send a report.

The AC system on the 2019 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback Touring stopped blowing cold air out of all the vents (driver and passenger) After turning off the car, only the passenger and right center vent blew a little colder air but the driver vent blew hot air. We took it into the dealership for inspection and their finding was Compressor and Condenser are dry along with evaporator core needing replacement. They also found that the freon level was low. The dealership told me that Honda extended the warranty on the compressor and condenser due to the new freon they are using which is known to cause issue with the AC system. They seen evaporator core going bad on other Civics as well but aren't sure why Honda isn't covering evaporator core yet.

The vehicle's condenser and evaporator have failed. I recently purchased my leased vehicle and at the time of purchase, I was not notified that there is an extended warranty provided upon the date of purchase if the condenser is to fail. I received a letter in the mail 2 months later after it failed about this issue. Thinking I would be covered I took my vehicle to the dealer and was notified that the condenser did in fact fail however the vehicle's evaporator has also failed and that is not covered by the warranty. The condenser was not able to be replaced without also repairing the evaporator at the same time which cost $2,000. With the results of climate change, the summers are getting hotter which imposes major health/safety issues. The letter received makes it clear if the condenser is to fail due to manufacturer issues it would be covered however if caused by an outside source it would not. It is very clear due to the condenser failing it caused the evaporator to fail OR the evaporator was also faulty already to begin with which should then ALSO be covered in the extended warranty. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The A/C stopped working about 3 & a half years into the vehicle's life which is well past the regular warranty time frame.
