Driving along, all bars on the MTD charge status will disappear. You notice the problem when the car can barely drive because the MTD (hybrid drive) will stay in charge mode until you get a couple bars of charge on the display (several minutes later). The dealer says that there is nothing wrong (no computer codes) and that this is normal. As the air conditioner compressor is driven off of an electric motor; the dealer says that I should not use the air conditioner. I try to avoid the air conditioner as much as possible (hard in southern Cal), but the problem still occurs every two-three months over the last couple of years.
