Ridgelines built prior to 8/24/2005 does not support trailers with surge brakes. Tow electrical harness needs a 12V line into the trailer to disengage brakes when trailer is backing up. During reverse, since there is no 12V into the trailer, the trailer cannot be back up. The disk brakes are locked in the trailer. Honda has rectified the issue on newer Ridgelines.
