I drove my car approximately 1/2 mile when it completely shut down. No steering, no brakes, nothing. Thank goodness I had just turned off onto a little traveled side road. Had I been on a main road I could have been injured or worse. Had vehicle towed to dealer who informed me that the problem was low oil.

The car shuts off when it needs oil?????

Have they never heard of oil pressure warning lights????

Obviously Jeep believes the vehicle is more important than the vehicle's occupants.

I now have to go in every 500 miles to have the oil checked until they can tell me what my oil change interval needs to be. How do I know that interval will be correct? Or will stay the same? Obviously I will be checking the oil every time I drive the car and hoping it doesn't decide to shut down for some other reason.

I bought my 2017 Jeep Cherokee in June of 2020. I thought I was buying a reliable vehicle and for the amount of money I'm paying it should be. I was driving, went to take a right turn, and my Jeep shut off with a prompt, saying I can't shift while the vehicle is in motion... I'm in the middle of the road on a sharp corner sitting in a dead vehicle! I could have been killed if someone came whipping around the corner as many people do... This has happened 3 times now, and twice on that corner.

I took it to the dealership where I bought it and they have no idea what is going on with it. They replaced all the wires under the dash. Tomorrow I get to take it back in because it stalled out again today! So frustrating - Jeep needs to make this right. To figure out what they did wrong and correct it!

I'm so angry that there have been several complaints about this same issue and Jeep has done nothing. I'm glad I found this site and saw the other complaints saying it could need an oil change in 900 miles before my next oil change but I'll suggest it to my mechanic and see if it helps...

My daughter has a 2017 jeep, while she is driving the jeep will just shut off like you turn the key off. When this happens it is hard to steer to move to safety. After a couple of times the jeep will start again, we took it into the Bozak dealership where she bought it and they said that it was low on oil. I find it hard to believe that a motor manufacturer would but in a safety sensor that would shut the vehicle off mid stream of driving, what if she was on the expressway and could not get out of the traffic she would be killed. She had the oil changed and two days later it did the same thing, took it back to the dealership where she bought it and this time they said it was a dead cell in the battery. Had that changed at 320.00 dollars. I see from this forum that this is a common complaint which is a very serious problem, why has there not been a recall from jeep and if the vehicles are using this much oil - where is it going or why is the engine burning this much oil - the jeep is only two years old and has all the oil changes at the dealership where she bought it at and on time - this is a very serious problem that need to be addressed.
