The contact owns a 2004 Jeep Liberty. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 13V252000 (fuel system, gasoline, structure) and the dealer stated that the frame had extensive rust and needed to be replaced by the contact to receive the recall repair. The dealer refused to supply the oem trailer hitch unless the contact replaced the framing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. Updated 7/21/15

There was not an accident. I'm just having a very hard (impossible) time getting any Jeep dealer to perform the safety recall N46 (installing trailer hitch on the back of Jeep to prevent fires/explosions in a collision). Every Jeep dealer keeps telling me the parts on national backorder and there is nothing they can do.

I had my vehicle serviced at ewald Chrysler Jeep Dodge llc in franklin wis to address safety recall N46/NHTSA 13V-252. My vehicle originally came with the tow package and a factory installed hitch. According to the recall notice I received the factory hitch would be inspected and the two most rearward mounting bolts would be replaced. The dealer did not replace the bolts and said that would only be done "if necessary". as the recall notice states that the bolts would be replaced and says nothing regarding "if necessary" I am wondering if this recall was performed adequately.

I received two safety recall notices for my car. My Chrysler dealer will not make the safety fix. The dealer claims they do not receive enough trailer hitches for all the cars needing the safety fix. Why bother sending me a notice to have my car made safe when Chrysler will not make there cars safe? I am do not think Chrysler or you really care about people's safety. It seems Chrysler and you just talk and no action because...my guess...this inaction saves many people a lot of money. The sad part of the whole thing no one cares.

Called Jeep and still no answer as to when they are going to comply with government safety regulations. I'm still waiting on a hitch for my Jeep. At this point if I do have a accident and an incident occurs I'm sure this would be considered a non comply to government regulations. All I'm asking for is either they fix the issue or give me ftv on my Jeep so I can buy a safer car. Sorry to say this is the type of issues that cause me not to want to get another Jeep. Ford or Chevy next time..

2004 Jeep Liberty. Consumer writes in regards to unsatisfactory customer service at dealership and seeks reimbursement. The consumer stated after purchasing the vehicle, he was advised by the local dealership not to install a trailer hitch, as Chrysler would install it in the beginning of July 2013. The consumer is disabled and he needed to relocate and needed a trailer to pull a U-hall to move. After repeated attempts with Jeep/Chrysler, he was turned down with a variety of excuses. The consumer was finally forced to have a hitch professionally installed.
