The heated driver seat in my 2005 Jeep Liberty caught on fire today. I had my heated seat on low started smelling a burning odor so I pulled over. I had my toboggan tucked under me and when I stepped out of my Jeep and grabbed my toboggan to put on there was a hole burnt in my seat and it was smoking! I tried to check it but the seat was so hot I couldn't. I called fire department. When they got there it was still smoldering inside the seat so they treated it with chemical and disconnected the wiring mechanism.
I would like to know if anyone else with a 2005 Jeep Liberty has experienced their seat catching on fire due to malfunction in the wiring? I would also like to know if there is a recall on 2005 related to this issue?
