I took my car to my mechanic after my turn signals stopped working. After about an hour I was told that it was the TIPM and that it needed to be replaced, the part alone would cost me about $700. I have been having trouble with my radio for the past couple of months, it loses power and turns back on at random, usually after about ten minutes of driving. Sometimes the radio does not work at all.
I am concerned because I know that there have been a number of Jeep/Chrysler vehicles that have been recalled due to fuel pump failures caused by the TIPM. I called Chrysler today but was told that they couldn't do anything for me because there haven't been any recalls on my specific vehicle model. This explanation does not make any sense to me. Shouldn't Chrysler recall all the vehicles that carry this part? It seems like a very big coincidence that this particular part in my car has gone bad at the same time that all other Chrysler vehicles with the same part are having problems with it. Seems like Chrysler is trying to save a buck by doing the bare minimum of recalling some of their vehicles with a faulty TIPM instead of all their vehicles that have the part.
