We purchased 3 Jeeps - 2 Liberties and 1 Compass, around the same time for our sons and niece. We were unaware of any engine issues but shortly thereafter all 3 vehicles suffer the same symptoms. Engine light on and requires constant filling of oil every few days. There is no signs of oil leaking since no stains on driveway or street but clearly the oil is burning at an unacceptable rate. I don't think it is chance that we same the same issue on all vehicle but more likely a defect. It is a PITA to have to make sure the oil is checked daily and always have to cap it off. This increases the risk of blowing the engine so this is frustrating and unacceptable from a car maker like Jeep.

Originally thought to be a spark plug issue. All wires, spark plugs, and number 2 coil pack replaced. Issue went away momentarily but the light came back with the same misfire code for cylinder two. Problem is intermittent

Liberty Jet Sport 3.2L V6

My Jeep has again started to stutter at around 50-60 mph and act like it's misfiring. Last time this happened it wasn't a day later that the jerking and hammering noise got so bad that the check engine light started flashing at me. Before this is wasn't even on. I barely made it a mile down the interstate to get off the exit. I made it to first one and the ran a diagnostic and found that cylinder 1 was misfiring.

They looked at it and saw a crack in the spark plug and it was black like it had been burned. I was told to have all 6 plugs replaced and do a full fuel system clean out because that could be the cause of the issues. I drove away and not two months later the sputter is back. I feel it slightly as I get to 50-60 mph and when I'm driving up a hill. Which means I need to get to a garage fast before it shuts down on me again.

Almost a year ago, at this point it's only 2 years old, it started giving me a rough idle when I would start it up after it had been sitting for a few hours. You would notice it really bad when I would stop or be on a hill. I took it in multiple times and no one could find out what was wrong and after reading a ton of boards on my issue it's actually a sign that oil is getting to your spark plug tube. So I think it's oil getting to the spark plugs some how, but I'll have the garage look at it tomorrow. We have also found that oil leaks a drop or so every day but it's not from my oil changes. The last time I had it done my husband watched as they cleaned and checked everything when they were done. They couldn't find a leak anywhere so they had no idea where it was coming from. I think some how that oil is getting to the spark plugs.

I love Jeeps and i love mine , but I wish I could just get rid of this Jeep.

Liberty UT V6

I have been going back and forth to the dealership where I purchased the vehicle to diagnose the problem. They put it on the computer and I was told that no problems were noted other than getting a new gas cap... which I did. Stop engine light was reset. A new cap and 5 days later, the light comes on again. Took to Jeep Dealer who said, the generic cap does not correct the problem and to buy the Jeep cap.... which I did. The stop engine light was reset and 5 days later, the light comes on again. This has been going on about 3 months. The light is on again. The vehicle runs fine. What can I do but go back to the Jeep Dealership?
