I drive for a rideshare company. After picking up a rider, I attempted to restart my Jeep and found I couldn't. How embarrassing!!! Upon having it towed to a local mechanic, the problem was diagnosed as "The valve seat on cylinder #2 has come apart, causing damage to the cylinder and head, resulting in NO compression in that cylinder." Granted, my mileage is kinda high (195,000). But, I have regularly had my oil changed every 3-4000 miles and never expected to be notified the engine needed to be replaced for what I've now discovered to be a known manufacturer defect. Most of oil changes were performed at dealership where I purchased Jeep, and they provide a vehicle inspection report after each change, including my last change about 3500 miles ago. Nothing was ever indicated on these reports as to the nightmare i have to deal with now. Why no recall for this defect??? $5700 for a used engine+labor. Can't afford that. Please help!!
