Patriot Latitude 2.4L 4 cyl

  • CVT transmission

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

Driving 65 mph on an 85 degree day, after about 80 miles the transmission light came on and the engine made a whining noise and lost power. We pulled over and let it cool down and then drove 55 mph with the a/c off the last 60 miles. This was the second time this happened with this car on a long trip on a hot day. What good is a car if you cannot drive it on a trip on a hot day?

I purchase a 2013 Jeep Patriot from a local dealership. I thought I found a good car because the price of it was cheap and it's only 3 yrs old car plus the mileage was low. After less than 3 week I drove to Wisconsin to visit my parents. On my way the temp light went on, engine light went as well, so I ended up pulling up to the shoulder. I waited 15 minutes to drive again but the engine light keep coming on every 1:1/2 driving. My 5 hrs drive ended up to 7 hrs drive and it was very frustrating.

Then on our way back to MN with my children the light car stopped 3 times on the highway. I was so scared because I have my children with me. we ended up driving a total of 8 hrs because of the stopping. So I took it back to the dealership and they took to the Jeep service department. After 2 weeks of trying to figure the problem out they said that it was the throttle and they said they replace it.

After less than 5 weeks the car did the same thing again. This time the wheel locked first and then the engine just died automatically. It happened 5x in just one day. So I returned the car to the dealership again. Now I don't know what are they going to do this time. but I am scared to even get the car anymore. My concern is the safety of my kids. Jeep should recall this car.

Was driving down the highway at 80mph in passing lane, 4 hours into a road trip. Car just shut off. I made my way to the shoulder and tried to start it. Nothing. Waited 15 minutes. Nothing. Called for a tow to nearest dealer where they told me there was nothing wrong with my car. Had three dogs and a husband with heart disease in the car. Had to rent a vehicle for a week while they looked it over. Runs great again, but now I am scared of it. Talking to my dealership today

I purchased 2013 Jeep Patriot Latitude in January of 2013. Since the car was purchased, I have had nothing but problems.

The first issue was that the windshield wipers kept turning on by themselves. I took the car back to the dealership's service department only to be told that a ''star case'' was made. No resolution.

The second issue that occurred was where the car completely stalled out at 10 MPH which nearly caused a terrible accident that could have injured myself and my 9 year old daughter. I had to turn the car off, wait and then turn it back on. The car stalled again. After 20 minutes of waiting, the car began to drive as normal. I took the car back to the dealership AGAIN. The service manager kept my Jeep for the entire day (keep in mind that they do not even issue rentals) and called to tell me that ANOTHER STAR CASE was made.

After my third visit for the stalling issue and for the windshield wipers, the dealership finally decided to change the wipers relay switch which seemed to stop the problem. After 5 visits for the stalling issue, there still has not been any resolution.

I have contacted Jeep over three times, via phone and by the email on the site and still have yet to be contacted from the ''representative in one business day.'' I am furious that I cannot get any type of satisfactory service. I will NEVER purchase another Chrysler product. I have began exploring other options for a new vehicle which is sad being that I am a single father who just needs reliable transportation to provide for his daughter.

Oh by the way, today is 5/15/15, I had to take my Jeep in to the service dealership at 10:15AM EST for yet another diagnostic check.

Was in the car o0n the hwy going about 70mph when the engine stalled! It just stopped working and there were 4 of us in the car including my small child! We coasted to the shoulder thank goodness, and I thank God traffic wasn't heavy or we would have been killed for sure! This was an issue with 2011 and 12 jeep patriots but it is not fixed in the 2013! They wont recall until someone gets hurt, and if its me im gonna sue the balls off jeep and I have documentation of all the problems im having with this car that has less than 20,000 miles on it! Jeep is supposed to be a "rugged" car... well it is a total waste of money, plus its not even safe to put your family in! I really hope I can at least keep someone from making the mistake of buying one of these terrible cars with this review... this is real and my whole family could have been hurt or worse because of this car, and looking online I am not the only one!
