Acceleration has been stalling a month after purchasing the vehicle. Oil change has been up to date as well as the diagnostics but unfortunately we still haven"T found the cause. We didn"T think too much of it until a friend of ours transmission just shut down on hers and she had the same issue with her 2014 Jeep Patriot. The stalling comes and goes but often stalls when accelerating.

Bought Jeep in 2018 since then it has had intermittent cruise control problems. Sometimes it works sometimes it dont. Sometimes it works then quits working. Drivers seat belt will be buckled and come unbuckled have to rebuckle intermittently. Burning smell intermittently dont know if its oil, coolant or what was supposed to be fixed by Jeep who said it was leaky coolant still occurs. All of this has occurred while on the road.

Vehicle throttle control lights comes on when car is in motion which will then slow down the vehicle which can cause an accident that you can no longer control the steering wheel. When that light comes one the engine light and traction control lights come on as well. When on the highway car will lose acceleration which again you can't pull over it will just stop. This is very dangerous and can cause death. I have read so many more of the same complaints something needs to be done about this.

Takata recall the tcm on my Jeep Patriot short-circuited out of nowhere and now it causes my transmission gears to slip while I'm driving and makes my rpms rev really high wow my acceleration is minimum meaning when I put my foot on the pedal and press the rpms jump really high and my car barely even picks up speed I was driving on a city street and all of a sudden I felt something was wrong that's when I noticed the rpms revving really really high while my car was slowing down it's never done it before and it causes traffic because my vehicle will run real slow and takes almost me having to put my pedal to the ground just so I can speed up enough to get out of the way so when I got home I hooked up an obd monitor to my car and it said lost tcm communication now I can't even drive my car because I'm afraid I'm going to blow up the engine or something

Vehicle stalls while driving unexpectantly, while driving and leaves no recourse or corrections for the driver to be made. Power to all of the vehicle systems stayed on whilst all the controls of the vehicle were removed from the driver. Eventually restarted. But refuses to start after being stationary again. Was driving down a city street when my car just stalled out on a straightaway. Finally restarting and making it home, and now not starting again.

The car would hesitate when accelerating and slow down to a very low speed before bucking and thrusting until the speed would increase. The slowness was slow enough on a highway to almost cause an accident.

2016 Patriot with,54,000 miles. No major issues prior. 2 weeks ago however, I was left stopped in the middle of a highway entrance ramp, almost rear-ended by a semi and side swiping a construction sign to avoid being hit. When accelerating the etc symbol (lightening bolt) will display, traction control icon and check engine light will display. The Jeep completely stops accelerating (highway speed to 0 mph within seconds=deadly), it will shake before just dying. If I'm lucky I'll make it to the shoulder (if it happens to have one). Through google research, I came across a way to do a "reset" (turn car off, insert key and turn "on", press gas pedal slowly, release slowly, turn car off and then restart the engine). Doing this typically clears the icons and I'm able to travel again. This intermittently happens, so you never know when you're potentially about to be involved in an accident from stopping in the middle of the roadway. When driving on city/town roads, it has not completed stopped as stated above, but will "jump" when switching gears, then throw the etc symbol. If I let off the gas, the icon goes away and car runs normal. I took it to a mechanic 1 day ago and was told to get a new battery. The battery was changed 1 day ago and the issue occurred multiple times today. Through online searches it appears this is a terribly common issue that Jeep has yet to address! someone is going to end up losing their life because of this malfunction. There appears to be no way of knowing this is going to happen or any preventative measures that a typical person would know to take to avoid this deadly malfunction. As easy as it is to just take it to a mechanic, that is not financially possible for everyone and in this situation needs to be addressed by Jeep as it is recurring issue and is deadly. Nothing as a vehicle owner would avoid this from occurring.

I was going uphill on a rural road when my car powered down and the rpms dropped down to 0. it kicked right back in, it happened one more time on my way home through the city. When I got into my driveway, before I could come to a complete stop it dropped rpms and powered down. After a half an hour I went out to head to a dr. Appt and my Jeep wouldn't start.

Vehicle loses power and ability to accelerate. This occured while driving on the interstate at 65 mph. Thankfully, I was able to get vehicle to side of road. Restarted and as driving home, vehicle tries to accelarate itself while car is idling. Had I not had my foot firmly on brake, it would have taken off. Took in for repairs and dealer states that throttle body is bad and this is a common problem on these vehicles. Advised that it was dangerous to drive as vehicle can lose power without warning.

While at a full stop at a stop light, the car attempted to accelerate to 40 mph. A red lightning bolt lit up on the dash. The car was shut down. When the car was restarted, the check engine light came on. The car still randomly attempts to accelerate under all and any driving conditions. So far the acceleration sensor has been replaced with no avail. Currently trying another service group to isolate and correct the problem. The vehicle is dangerous because there is no predictable pattern to the random accelerations. The date noted is the last occurance. We've been attempting to get the vehicle repaired since July 18, 2018.

I was driving down the road and barely touched the shifter and when I touch the shifter it slipped over into where you shift your gears I feel like it's a could catch the car on fire because it is revved up so high and you don't even realize it because you cant hear it unless you you got radio off and windows up and you can never tell I definitely think they should have made it more safe when from some kind of a lock on the shifter for when you want to go over into where you shift the gears yourself not to mention how expensive cars are and that you could very easily tear up your car by it being in the manual shifting area rather than the automatic shift
