While driving 75 mph on a long trip, the Hybrid Battery Warning, Do Not Drive message came on. I pulled over, turned off the car and called the KIA dealer. They had no idea of what to do, but told me to try to start the car again and if it started without any error messages, the car should be safe to drive. I did that and was able to complete my trip without incident.
A month later, I took another trip and the same thing happened after driving about 100 miles. I did the same thing, but it happened twice more on the way to my destination, and four times on the way back. My local car repair garage replaced the crankshaft position sensor, and that seemed to fix the issue, although the car did not seem to have the same power as before, particularly going up inclines.
