While trying to accelerate, the car randomly has a 2-3 second delay before action. The engine revs up to 5000 RPM and then will accelerate after the RPM’s come down. The car can also have jerky motions and lunges when accelerating from a stop.

There will also be times while driving on a highway the vehicle started to lose power. Stepping on the gas does not get any acceleration. I have had to shift it into neutral and then back to drive to get the acceleration back.

Also when the vehicle had about 90000 miles on it, while driving 45 mph on the freeway, the "do not drive, place vehicle in park" warning message illuminated. I pulled over to the side and noticed some smoke and lack of power. I limped back to the dealership and they performed a diagnostic. They claimed that some wires were chewed in a harness that connects the engine to the hybrid system. My insurance replaced the harness and paid for the work. The experience that I had at the time of breakdown was very similar to what many have described in this site.

I have had numerous mechanics look into the acceleration issue and nobody can seem to fix it. Kia needs to address this immediately.
