Steering wheel controls are deteriorating and I hardly ever use them!! This is clearly a systemic issue considering previous reports and pictures on this site. It is embarrassing and I never expected Lexus to make this type of defective product!

steering controls covering material deteriorating

There are buttons on my steering wheel that control the phone/bluetooth, display, cruise control, etc. They're covered by plastic (or whatever material it is). The plastic is melting and peeling away. It's unsightly and embarrassing, but beyond that, I'm quickly losing the ability to tell which button controls what. These are safety and convenience features that I won't be able to use. AND can you imagine what this will do the reslae value!

A friend sent me this link that he thought might explain it: http://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2017/toyota-lexus-melting-dashboard-lawsuit.shtml. Of course my dealer was quick to tell me that a steering wheel wasn't included in this lawsuit -- that was before they even asked to see the problem. Just curious as to why they tried to schedule my appointment after the end of May when I told them I wanted it before the end of the month just in case it is covered.

black rubbery coating peeling off where radio controls are

Steering wheel cosmetic issue. The black rubbery material that coats the volume and channel controls for the radio is peeling off. It's not a wear and tear issue. You push the buttons once in a while, the coating shouldn't peel off! I've used plasti-dip to at least cover up the clear, hard plastic that shows underneath. The dealer tells me there is no recall..To fix the problem, I need to replace the entire steering wheel. I stopped him right there before he pissed me off with the price.

Anyone else have this issue or any ideas to solve the problem? Thank you.
