Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

Unintended acceleration of a 2006 Lexus GX470 when shifting from park to drive. This is the first known occurrence of this abnormal activity in the 6 months I have owned this vehicle. The engine rpms went from idle to wide open throttle for 2-3 seconds when I shifted the transmission into drive. Since my foot was on the brake I was able to keep the vehicle under control. The engine returned to normal idle on its own. Fortunately, I was in the middle of an empty parking lot and there were no damages and no injuries. The dealer (woodfield Lexus, schaumburg Illinois) found no faults or failures upon initial inspection of the vehicle. Toyota motor sales, North America is sending me instructions on what steps I should take to address this dangerous and unsafe issue. I was told these instructions should arrive in the mail within 7-10 days.
